My husband had to buy this extension to fit the gate we purchased at Babies-R-Us. We have a large opening in our kitchen and it fits perfect. It looks so much nicer then wooden gates we've had in the past. The gate closes by itself after you enter, and our 2 year old can't open it without us. We bought this to keep our dogs locked in our kitchen when we leave our house, and our cattle dog won't attempt to jump it. I wrote this review mainly to reassure you that the bottom of the gate is not a problem when walking through the gate. Our family of four has now had the gate for 5 months and no one has tripped over it, even my 2 year old! I know that this was my biggest concern when buying the gate, but I didn't see any reviews that talked about it. I hope this helps you!
