Customer Review: Function, low-cost baby gate.

I bought this gate today after weeks of denying that it was necessary to keep my one-year-old out in sight while someone wasn't playing with her. I noticed in the reviews for it that a lot of people have had problems with this gate, whether it be getting it to sit right, being able to pressure mount it correctly, problems with it fitting evenly between baseboards and walls, etc. But to be honest, I haven't had any problems other than my initial attempt at trying to figure out the mechanics of it.
It sits firmly between two walls a standard door's width apart and so far has been resistant to my daughter pushing/leaning on it, and it's high enough that she can't lean over it or otherwise scale the top - she is a tall girl to begin with, and she still has to stand on her tiptoes to barely see over the top. While the wood is not the absolute best quality and I'm sure it will wear out/bow/possibly crack over (I hope) a very extended period of time, you should remember that this is a LOW-COST baby gate. At $17, you can't really get much in the way of quality baby-safety items. So for the price, and for the fact that it keeps my baby out of trouble, I'd say this is a thumbs up for me.
