Customer Review: Nice to have, despite a few problems

I really didn't think we would need a bottle warmer, much less one with a "cooler" option. However, I have to say, it's been pretty handy for those 1 am feedings, when you're exhausted and pretty incoherent. There are a few tricks to using it, though, that just come with time. We've found that the little ice bottle that comes with the cooler just doesn't stay frozen/cold long enough for a 2-bottle timeframe. So instead, we use frozen gel packs. If you place 2 bottles in the cooler, one gel pack will fit diagonally between them. Our baby feeds every 3 hours, so this buys us the 2 bottle timeframe of 6 hours. Additionally, the recommended water to add to warm up a 4 oz. bottle is 7mls, but we found that this didn't warm the formula enough- it was still cold and our baby couldn't tolerate it, so we've increased to 9mls. This increased amount warms the formula to the correct temperature. If your baby is a large feeder (more than 4oz. at a single feeding), do not expect to use the cooler option - it is only tall enough to hold 4 oz. bottles.
If you have a large house and your kitchen is far from baby's room, I would recommend the Night & Day Bottle Warmer. However, if your house is small, or the baby's room is close to the kitchen, then this is just a luxury.

I am extremely happy with this bottle warmer. I bought it when my child was about 2 months old. Initially, I used it only to warm expressed breast milk and I kept it upstairs for middle of the night feedings (I used the ice chest on the top), now, at 7 months, it is in the kitchen and I use it for warming baby food jars as well as for milk. It heats very fast and gets the bottle/food warm. You control the temperature based on the amount of water you put in it. It shuts off once the water has steamed out so you can leave the bottle in it, change a diaper and go back and it has shut off and is ready for you. It is fast and efficient. You have to figure out the actual amount of water based on the fluid oz. you are heating and based on the initial temperature of the milk, i.e. if it was in the frig or in an ice chest. Once you use it a few times, you will know exactly how much water to put in. It will get the milk very hot if you put too much water in it. I ALWAYS check it on my arm before using. Great investment, much faster than heating water. I wish they sold an adaptor for the car, I tried the portable bottle warmers for the car which have a band that wraps around the bottle and they are useless.

This has been a life saver. It heats our bottles in about 2 minutes, if that.
The Pros of the warmer - It's very fast, has a on/off switch, cooler with ice pack, indicating light that lets you know when the bottle is done and heats baby food.
The Cons of the warmer
If you not careful you can get some serious burns from this thing, especially if it's 3am and your half dead and not paying attention. The steam has gotten me twice and my hubby burned himself because the bottle itself was hot (he actually got blisters)
Ours is very inconsistent and we always use exactly the same amount of water. Each time we get different results. Sometimes the bottle is so hot, you have to pick it up with a pot holder. Other times it's ice cold.
We have to check the temp. of the bottle constantly, which means I have to stand overtop of it and make sure the formula doesn't boil.
Overall, I am happy with the warmer, mainly because of how fast it is. But after both my husband and I were burned (and we got blisters) I thought it would be best to tell you guys here.
Be Careful of the steam and the actual bottle itself.

I have owned this bottle and have used it for my daughter for the past 6 months without a single problem. I have researched every single bottle warmer out there and I can tell you, with confidence, that this is the best you will find. The removable cooler is very convenient with the fact that you do not have to go rooting around your fridge in the middle of the night looking for the bottle, plus it holds two bottles. I use Avent and it works perfectly. It also makes it very convenient to place right in your baby's room! My sole complaint is that the nightlight is not bright enough alone. But the steps to use this are quite simple. First, fill the resevoir with the premeasured water amount, then add the bottle and just press the button to start the warming process! It's just that easy! I have left this device with my family and they have mastered this product within a few uses!
I hae noticed many gripes about this product and my response is, READ THE MANUAL!!! As long as you read and follow the instructions in the booklet, you will perfectly okay! The steps are not tricky at all, but there are a few little tips that they give you in order to keep your unit running properly.

I bought this assuming it would be easier for my husband and I to heat our newborn's bottles. I followed the directions to the T, putting the correct amount of water for the steam, that matched the amount of formula I had in the bottle. When I took the bottle out, it was still cold. So, I had to go to the kitchen and heat the formula. The next day I dedcided to try different water amounts to see which one would be the best for the bottles. Night two: I finally figured out the right amounts and it was time for his bottle. I stuck the bottle in and tried to close my eyes while it was heating it up. All of a sudden, I smelled milk. I lifted the bottle up and there was milk leaking from the bottle. I used the Playtex VentAir bottles, in which the other reviews raved about them and said they worked perfect with this. Not with me, the heat must have opened the holes on the bottom of the bottle and released the formula. We just went back to our normal routine, which has gotten easier for us. I actually ended up returning this product. Try it at your own risk. Remember, babies do not have or do not know what patience is, especially when they are hungry.=)
