Baby Products Reviews of Night & Day Bottle WarmerCustomer Review: Here's a quicker way of heating bottles without a warmer Summary: 1 Stars
I've been reading a lot of reviews on bottle warmers. Some heat up bottles in 1-5 minutes. Well I have a way to make it even quicker without using a warmer. Assuming you're using formula (this won't work for breastmilk) this is what I do. I used to buy the liquid formula which took forever heating on the stove. Now I buy the powder formula. I keep on the kitchen counter a pitcher of sterilzed water, the powdered formula can and a glass measuring cup. When my 3 month old starts fussing for a bottle I pour the water in the measuring cup and put it into the microwave for 15 seconds. I only put water in the microwave, not the formula. While it's in the microwave I get the bottle ready (which I keep out of sight). By then the water is done. I pour it in the bottle, add 2 scoops, shake and I'm done. It takes less than a minute to make a bottle for my son. Just about every night I wake to his "beginning" fusses, which are more like moans. I get the bottle made right before it turns into a full blown cry!!! Plus I don't even need a portable warmer because I can put more water in the microwave for like a minute and store it in a thermos. So it's still warm for when I need to make a bottle. Again I pour, add 2 scoops and shake!! Makes life so much easier. Don't waste your money. And Babies R Us sells a 2 lb can of baby formula (powder) in their brand (especially for baby) for $12.99. If you've tried it and you don't like it because of the bubbles once you shake it add one tiny drop of infant gas drops. Works wonders!!! Just passing info along. I don't like it when mom's spend money on something that could go better for something else, like cute clothes!!! or diapers!!
Customer Review: BE careful if using DR. BROWN's BOTTLES Summary: 1 Stars
I have never written a review and am not one to rant, but.....it is now time. I bought this item due to the birth of twins this last summer - thinking it would be a lifesaver with time. However, I not only found it dangerous - when I called customer service - they were rude and stated that the product had been tested for this sort of issue. Dr. Brown's bottles (wonderful) have an insert in them for gas and spit-up. When you place the bottle in the warmer - the directions never state take the top off and NEVER have the insert in. You cannot see milk coming up and steaming over the side....making the machine continue to heat and causing a huge mess/smell. If I have not of tested the temperature of the milk I would have burned my babies' mouths. I tried this three times - knowing that I needed to take the insert out, but wanting to understand what I was doing wrong to cause this. After reading serveral other reviews I learned that other moms had the same problem. This really bothered me so I called customer service and explained the problem. They told me that I was probably doing something wrong and if I would cut the cord off and mail the product back that they would mail me a new one. Why in the world would I want a new one of a product that did not work and what kind of customer service asks you to do that??? I continued to speak with the rep. and actually filmed the process to email it to the company....showing it was not me, but the product. I have not heard back and have banned the purchase of any first years products. I hope this helps...sorry to rant, but this was the only product of the million we recieved that really disappointed me.
Customer Review: Great concept but it needs a little more tweaking! Summary: 3 Stars
Yes, it's great because it is convenient; it's right at your bedside or baby's cribside so you don't have to take an extra 5 minutes to go downstairs and it can be plugged in anywhere so you can take it on the road with you if you're staying overnight somewhere. And yes, all of your feeding accessories are close at hand and you can store 2 bottles at a time... BUT the bottles simply stay "cool" as the description states when they really need to stay COLD. The nightlite does NOT provide just enough glow to prepare bottles in the dark - you will break something if you rely on their light. (We use a nightlight that plugs in to the wall...) AND for some reason, we can never get the bottle to the right temperature no matter how much water we put in the dropper. We can even use the same amount of water 3 times in a row and one bottle will be too hot, the other too cold and maybe the last just right. We're still working on it, though- even though we've had this for about two months (and please note that this is our second one - the first one stopped getting hot after two weeks). We use Dr. Brown's bottles and they fit perfectly and we don't remove the vent or the nipple like another reviewer had to. Maybe that's why the bottle doesn't warm the same way each time. It could also depend on how cold (or "cool") the bottle is. The colder the bottle, the longer the warming time and vice verse. It's a great concept but it needs a little more tweaking. Guess what though - I still use it every night!!!! (If someone knows of a better warmer, please email me.)
Customer Review: Say goodbye to microwaves Summary: 4 Stars
We didn't even register for this warmer but it was given to us as a gift anyway. Initially, during the nights, we would have to go downstairs, warm up some water in the microwave, and then stick the cold bottle in the water. This took forever to get the bottle to a comfy temperature and it was just such a hassle. Plus...we were so tired and sleepy so it was difficult. We decided to try this warmer out. After using it for the first time we fell in love. It is so easy to use and warms the bottle in about 1min. We just don't udnerstand why it has received negative reviews from friends? We bought a small fridge that we store in our laundry room. This is where we keep our baby's bottles. When we're ready to feed all we do is pour the premeasured water from the provided tubes (pkg comes with 2 tubes and there is also a chart that tells you how much water you need for a particular sized bottle) and then hit the button. It takes about a minute or so to warm up. Take the bottle out and shake it up..test the temp..perfect. No more trips downstairs...it's awesome.
The only negative thing for is that our Dr. Brown's bottle seem to leak. Just like other reviewers have mentioned, it's easily taken care of by simply warming up the bottle without the air vent tube. Also, we haven't had the opportunity to try out the cooler system. Good luck!
Customer Review: A must have item in the baby's room! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband and I love this bottle warmer. We Put two bottles in it before bed with the ice pack and all we have to do is go to the baby's room and pour the water in the heating chamber, put the bottle in and press the button. We change her diaper while the bottle is warming and usually warms it just about perfect. Measuring the correct amount of water to put in the chamber is the key. There are instructions right on the side of the bottle storage area on how much water to put in the chamber depending on what you are warming up. I have really enjoyed and used a few of the First Years products and they all have been easy to use and make being a new mommy that much less stressful. If you use the Dr. Browns Bottles, make sure you remove the two parts of the bottle that go inside before you heat it up, the pressure of the heat builds up and will cause the bottle to leak and the hot plate will keep on warming as long as there is fluid on it to steam. Then you have a mess on your hands. (our daughter uses the Dr. Browns bottles because she sucks a lot of air sometimes when we are feeding and she has been quite colicky!) Also if you call First Years they will send you an additional bottle cooler and Ice pack so you can rotate them for free. This is a great company with wonderful products!
