We recently returned from a trip to Europe with our 22 month old. While she did great, I'll admit that we're a bit fastidious and used a lot of non-environmentally conscious wet wipes and antibacerial wetones. That said, none of us has ever (knock-knock) gotten sick while travelling abroad or otherwise... We took a package of table toppers with us and used them for nearly every meal out (we stayed with family for a few days and didn't use them in their house). The table toppers don't adhere exceptionally well to tablecloths (though they will do if your child is somewhat containable), but worked SO well for us, overall, that I just had to write and praise this product. ... I use these all the time for my 20 month old. She often dumps food off her plate and eats off the table and with the table toppers I don't need to worry how well the table was cleaned.
We do quite a bit of travel, we currently live in Japan, and they are always in my diaper bag. We've used these on airplanes, at hotels, on highchairs... they're easy to carry and it's really nice to know that you're child's eating surface is clean.
My kids did like to rip them off the table at first, but I solved that by putting them on right before they eat and folding the one edge over the table, so it's not so easy to tear off.
I highly recommend table toppers!

I agree with everyone who says these mats are a MUST HAVE. We eat out at least 1-3 times a week and they are a life saver. For all the reviews that say there is a problem with the mats not sticking well to the tables, I think these people must be trying to stick them to a dirty table. Wipe the table off first. I have used 40-50 of the mats and have never had a problem. Also, for everyone who said that their child pulls the mat up....I find this hard to believe unless you do not have the mat secured properly to the table. If you have it good and flat against the table it is very hard to pull up...even I have problems at the end of a meal removing the mat sometimes.Customer Review: We need a better solution: stop ruining resturant tables!

I am a busser in a very popular, high traffic restaurant and I see quite a bit of parents use the things. i have to say, nothing frustrates me more than trying to remove these things from the table top. I know this just sounds like an aggravated rant, but over half of the tables at the restaurant have one or more square residue outlines left from the sticky side of these place-mats. These marks aren't only frustrating for the restaurant staff, but are also unsightly for the guests of the restaurant. I know that this review wont matter to most who read it, but please, before you buy this,try to be conscientious of the restaurant and the table you're about to ruin.Customer Review: A Restaurant Must Have!

We tried using the reusable hippo placemat, but the suction cups never worked and our son would just flip it over. Then we found the table toppers and I don't know what we did before! I wish they were reusable, but I'm just glad he's not eating off a dirty table anymore! And they stick great, we've had no problems! Our son always wants to flip everthing over and inspect the bottom (cute but can be annoying, especially with food!). He definately tries to peel up the table topper, but he hasn't succeeded yet. I'm sure he'll figure it out eventually, but I'm hoping he'll be able to eat off a plate by then! Definately worth the money for these!
