Customer Review: Fantastic for keeping nipple cream on the nipple and not the bra or shirt!

I had an unusually difficult and sore nursing experience with my second baby. For one thing, I was exclusively formula feeding the first 8 days of baby's life due to a medication restriction. I then felt so convicted about giving nursing a chance for my baby, given the superior nutritional quality, that I discontinued the usage of that medication, rented a pump and started on day nine. I have very sensitive skin as it is, am prone to exczema, dry skin and sun burn (at least until I build up a base, then I tan quite nicely). I had to pump 8 times a day the first couple of weeks to establish a supply and it took about 20-30 minutes just to get 2 oz per side. I was in tears with pain. When my baby nursed every time she latched I would holler and well-up with tears (until she was about 6 months old!). Shiloh was a very slow feeder (about an hour total mursing and about 45-50 min to drink a 3 oz bottle. According to the Lactation Consultant Shiloh had a great latch so my pain was due to: sensitive skin, frequent LONG feedings and frequent pumping. I stopped pumping when she was 9 mos old but nursed her the full year. I didn't have a problem with leaking but used Lanolin cream DAILY on my sore nipples the entire year! If I took evena day off the soreness would increase or return after I had it under control. I didn't like the lanolin staining my clothes or causing the bra to stick and therby creating more pain when the fabric was peeled from the nipple to nurse. These were the perfect solution. I could reuse them 2-4 days since I wasn't leaking - they were solely for keeping lanolin in place without sticking to fabric. Although they don't have "stickies" for adhering to the bra, I found those to be very ineffective with other brands anyway - often becomming "unsticky" and defeating their purpose. These are also inexpensive and undectable under clothing. My third baby is due in a month and I've already purchased a box of these and lanolin cream - I've read to start wearing the cream a couple of weeks before baby is due and it helps keep pain more manageable - it's definately worth a shot! Also, purchased a pack of the "Gerber Nuk Warm or Cold Breast Relief Pads" and have been told by many they are a God-send when it comes to relieving breast/nipple pain. Hopefully, this will be a much more pleasant nursing experience.
