Baby Products Reviews of My Brest Friend Light Green Deluxe PillowCustomer Review: Great product! Summary: 5 StarsGreat Product, offers needed back support, & pillow is firm so baby does not sink in, & you don't have to slouch.
Customer Review: helped us learn to breast feed Summary: 5 StarsWe couldn't get the hang of breastfeeding until we got this. It was recommended by a lactation consultant. We were having a hard time learning to latch before and the problem disappeared with this pillow. We had a boppy, it was not helpful. Very supportive, bumps for the baby's head, support for mom's back.
Customer Review: I Love My Brest Friend Summary: 5 StarsI have been using the My Brest Friend every day for the past 11 months. I really love it. When my baby was small, he always fell asleep while eating. The large firm surface made it easy to let him take a nap right on my lap while I used my laptop, ate a snack, or read a book. Since it straps around my waist, it's easy to get up and lift him into his crib without having to fuss with a pillow. The strap also makes it easy to get ready to nurse because I can strap it on before I pick him up.
The fabric is very soft. I put it in the dryer when I wash it and it has done fine. I always take it on and off using the clip. I only use the velcro part when I need to adjust the size. The last time I washed the cover, I noticed that the foam was ripping where the back joins the main pillow. I guess after 11 months of taking it on and off, it wore out. But since the cover is there, I don't even notice that it's messed up.
I had no problem nursing using a football hold with the My Brest Friend. I just turn the pillow to my side and nurse as usual. The surface of the pillow is too small for my son to fit his entire body on now that he's getting so big, but he doesn't seem to mind. He just puts his legs somewhere else!
Another use that I've found for the My Brest Friend is using it as a lap desk for my laptop. I can comfortable use my laptop and not have to worry about the pillow blocking the fan because the foam is firm.
Customer Review: Nicely Designed Nursing Pillow. Summary: 5 StarsWe recently had a baby boy and my wife bought a Boppy nursing pillow in anticipation of feeding him. She used the product for almost a month, but found it to be somewhat difficult. For example, it didn't fasten to her and moved around as the baby squirmed. Also, it was too soft and tended to sag across her lap. She was always stuffing small blankets under it to get a better more-even upper surface. In discussing the problems with a friend of hers, the friend reported that the My Brest Friend nursing pillow worked much better. Well, we ended up buying a second expensive nursing pillow and it, indeed, works much better. It's just one of the many things we've learned with our first child.
The My Brest Friend pillow straps securely and comfortably around the back and fastens firmly with an adjustable sturdy velcro strap. My wife reports that it is comfortable to wear for extended periods of time and, in contrast to the Boppy, doesn't need constant readjustment. Furthermore, the pillow is somewhat stiff and doesn't sag across the lap even though our baby weighs almost 12 pounds. It's hard to judge, but the baby seems more comfortable resting on it too. The pillow has a convenient little pocket with a small velcro fastener. It can be used for a bib, and extra bottle, or use your imagination. It's a nicely designed piece of equipment. Our pillow is exactly the same as this illustrated product, except that it is light blue. Well, who cares about the color? Either one would be OK with us and other covers are available. All in all, when it comes to choosing a nursing pillow, the My Brest Friend is superior.

Customer Review: Not essential, but highly recommended Summary: 4 StarsMy mother-in-law found this product, and bought it for me because she thought it looked practical. It's a bit odd looking, but as it turns out, she was definitely on to something. This would definitely be a nice shower present if you're trying to support a friend's choice to breastfeed.
I have the non-Deluxe model, but am putting my review here to try to keep it with the rest. The non-Deluxe model differs in that the strap uses only a buckle, and not velcro. I don't find that a drawback, since opening velcro tends to wake sleeping babies. I'd prefer the pouch use a snap for that reason, but it is a nice place to keep a Clif bar or lanolin cream. This pillow is sized quite generously; I'm an American size 12, and can wear it on its smallest setting. The pillow's strap lets me put it on, walk across the room, and grab the baby without having too much to juggle.
It's good that the cover is washable, but getting it on and off the foam is a pain, so I put a receiving blanket or towel over the pillow, which handles spitup and newborn diaper blowouts quite nicely. It also lets me wrap my son up and place him in his cradle with minimal disturbance.
While this isn't an essential item, it is a really nice one. Using it has allowed me to nurse one-handed and use the computer with the other, which does a lot for sanity when dealing with a frequent eater. Because it's so firm and flat, my son can nurse, nap a bit, and then wake up and nurse again, all while I check email. The back support is quite comfy, too.
