Customer Review: iLove the iCrib!
Summary: 5 Stars

After throwing my First Years crib CD player literally in the trash can (don't get me started on what a complete hunk of junk that thing was), I was on a search to replace it. That is when I came across the iCrib. You really can't beat the price - I'm guessing it is reasonable since most of the controlling is done from the iPod itself. Granted I have only had it a few days, I cannot rave enough about it! It mounted perfectly on the crib and I think the sound is fantastic (I have only tried classical and not music with lyrics so I cannot comment on that sound quality).

I inherited my husband's older iPod Shuffle after I gave him a Nano for X-mas. I searched and searched online but could not figure out whether the iPod Shuffle would work with it. Muchkin's customer service verified that it would because it came with a few adapters to accomodate different MP3 players. Now, I don't really think they made one to specifically fit the Shuffle, but it did fit well enough in the "small" adapter they included so I was happy (see the picture I posted of the Shuffle in the iCrib). The iCrib itself has 3 modes - light only (iPod is off), light and iPod, or just iPod. You can also have it play for 15, 30 or 60 minutes before it shuts itself off. The light is actually what I would consider a "light show" with the light slowly changing colors which I think is rather calming as does my baby (or at least it seems).

The only things I would change about the iCrib is that I would really like it to have the option of playing longer than 60 min. I would also be happier if it had the option of providing a steady, soft light to serve as a constant night light (no "light show") to guide me during the middle of the night feedings. Otherwise, I am thrilled with the iCrib!

Customer Review: Fantastic crib sound system
Summary: 5 Stars

This product has been an absolute life-saver. Our daughter preferred one particular kind of music and we were able to create a playlist with several hours of the same song that we could play on repeat via this system, which straps safely and securely to the crib. The volume can easily be controlled on the ipod, and it is easy to turn on and off. The reviews have already made note of the two downsides of the product, 1) the fact that it does not turn off the ipod; 2) it runs on batteries. These are minor issues, are not inconvenient, and both have simple solutions. Charge your ipod regularly (every other day) - but ipods generally have a long battery life. As for the AA batteries, we have been using the icrib religiously for over three weeks and only replaced the 4 AA batteries for the first time yesterday. Furthermore, using an AC adaptor would have a wire running along the crib, which would be a dangerous safety risk, so the AA batteries are worth it for your child's safety. I honestly cannot recommend this product enough, for the price it is absolutely better than any separate sound system. And it allows you to offer consistency to your baby with the same soothing playlist that you can carry around with your ipod when you travel too!

Customer Review: Without question, the BEST crib music product out.
Summary: 5 Stars

My newborn is like most other newborns, in that she is both fascinated and soothed by music and light. Well, good news for iPod (and most other MP3) owners, because this product offers both, and at an INCREDIBLE price.
For $20 beans, you've got a very good (not Bose quality of course)crib-attachable speaker system which you can hook up an iPod to, AND it emits an alternating series of colored lights.

I put a playlist for my daughter together with Baby Einstein songs, and Mozart and other classical pieces, and along with the lights, she's pretty much in baby-bliss when she's in the crib (assuming she's not hungry or in need of a diaper change).
The cool thing is, unlike a crib CD player, you don't have to worry about changing CD's, because of the convenience of MP3 compression.
Just make a large playlist for your child, plug it in, hit play, and worry no more. It even has a timer, so that you don't kill the batteries.
Speaking of batteries, that's another convenience. No worries about dangerous wires hanging in and out of your baby's crib.

This is a must-have, and the ONLY reason NOT to get one, is if you don't own an MP3 player of any kind.

Customer Review: It's all a baby needs
Summary: 4 Stars

We have this system on our baby's crib, and he seems to like it more than just having music playing on a nearby stereo. The sound quality is good at low volumes, which are appropriate for a crib at bed or naptime, but quality deteriorates quickly once you raise it at all. So, if you are planning on using this for yourself, think again - but that's not what it's designed for. I do agree that the no-A/C adapter option stinks, but having caught our baby holding on to the IPod charging cord when the IPod was in this device, I realize that having an A/C adapter would just be a hazard - rechargeable batteries would be a great addition - that's the only reason I'm giving it four stars. Our baby LOVES to look at the lights. The 15 minute timer is great too, as that's all he really needs. I'd buy it again, and plan on getting it for friends with new babies.

Customer Review: Great product, but batteries only power
Summary: 4 Stars

I was actually surprised at how good the sound quality is from this iCrib sound system. It has very nice features like a 15min or 30min shutdown timer, so you can put the baby to bed with music and then the iCrib will shut down after the specified time. The nightlight is also really neat, as it cycles between four different colors. The only problem with this product is that it cannot run on AC, only on batteries, so we'll be buying lots of batteries over the next couple of years, but otherwise this is a great product.
Edit--After further consideration I would drop the rating to 3 stars for two reasons. First, I have found the lack of an AC power source to be very inconvenient. Second, as the batteries wear down, the sound quality from the speakers deteriorates significantly.
