Baby Products Reviews of Munchkin White Hot Inflatable Duck TubCustomer Review: Best Tub Ever Summary: 5 Stars
This has been the best bath investment we made for our son! He began using this on the countertop in the bathroom at about 7 months. He's 14 months now and it's in the bathtub. The quaker on the duck's bill still wokrs and it has a handy suction cup so we stick it to the back of the tub wall when done. It drains nicely. We've taken several vacations and it deflates with ease. I don't know why the previous poster said it took them a half hour to blow up!? I've inflated this within a couple of minutes with no problem. Their issue may have been that they didn't read the directions regarding the valve. Many inflatable items have a closed valve so when you try and blow up the item, you have to pinch the stem at the same time. This allows a little flap in the valve to open and let air in. The purpose is to keep leaking of air from the valve stem over time to a minimum. My 72 year old mother in law blew this up at the beach with no problems once I showed her the valve trick! We highly recommend this tub as it is durable and fun! We just squeak the duck's bill and our son comes running for his bath!
Customer Review: Great tub but the picture they posted shows a dangerous scenario Summary: 5 Stars
There is a photo someone posted of their kid in the tub and it is the most dangerous scenario you could imagine. Look at the one with the tub on the countertop and all the electrical outlets behind with things plugged in. If your kid started splashing it could short out the electric or if the tub overflowed and water got on the counter there could be a serious danger of electric shock with the plugged in electric toothbrush and hair dryer.. Not to mention how close the tub is to the edge of the countertop and hanging over the sink. I cannot believe those people really didn't think about safety before giving their kid a bath there. That electric outlet is not GHI (which is now a type of outlet required by law at least around here) so therefore it will not shut off should an electric shock occur. I hope their kid is ok but please whatever you do.. be conscious of where you give your kid a bath. The tub is awesome by the way.. really great especially when your baby is a bit wobbly when sitting up or learning to.
Customer Review: Love it, bought two Summary: 4 Stars
My child was frightened of being in the big bathtub when she was very young, so this inflatable duck tub made her feel more comfortable and secure. I thought it was great. I've had two - the first one I replaced because it got a hole (it was my fault, I was dragging it around on the ground during a house move) and I had lost the patches they send with the duck. I bought a new one. My child is just shy of two years old and we still use it. At 25 lbs and 32.5 inches, she still fits in it with her bath toys. I like it because it saves water (compared to filling tub), and time (less time to fill duck + less cleaning time). I periodically spray it with a Clorox Bleach mixture and then hang it to dry. I didn't realize until I got the second one that squeezing the beak causes it to "quack quack." So my first duck (which we had for a year) might have been defective, hence the 4 star instead of 5 star review. I wish they made this in a slightly larger size so that my daughter could continue to use it when she's bigger.
Customer Review: I bought two! Summary: 4 Stars
I found this at Target and decided to try it out for my parent's house. It was really cheap and cute so it wasn't a hard decision. I liked it so much I bought one for my house.
Pros:
- Easy to inflate. I did it all by myself. It didn't take long at all and I didn't feel dizzy afterwards.
- There's a suction cup so you can hang it up once you're done. This works well in a big bath tubs or shower stalls.
- Soft surface so your babe can rest his little head on the side of the duck as your wash his hair.
- The bottom of the tub is ribbed so you have a lot of friction, preventing your baby from slipping.
- the hot temperature sticker is great. However on my mom's tub it's very sensitive.
- The beak makes a cute "quack quack quack" sound.
Cons:
- Sometimes I wish the duck's head was detachable. It can get in the way sometimes but it's not a big deal.
Bottom line: I would buy this again for a friend or myself if needed.
Customer Review: Everything it's Quack-ed up to be! Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great tub. We used this for about a year before it sprung a little leak (well, my husband who is responsible for blowing it up might say it is was a big leak!). It came with a patch kit, but we had misplaced it, so we ended up buying a new one about 6 months ago and it is still going strong.
I can't be bothered with using the drain - this is such a small tub, so I can't comment on how the drain works on ours, but I just use a little muscle and flip the whole thing over to empty the water out. Just lift the duck with one hand and put your finger under the suction cup with the other hand and you are good to go. We don't do a soap fill up and then a rinse fill up - we just rinse after soaping, and it has worked great.
My kids love the quacking noise, although they cannot see it in the tub, which is a little weird, but they like it anyway. The duck is definitely large, so it can be an issue with a small space. But we have made it work...
