Baby Products Reviews of Munchkin White Hot Inflatable Duck Tub

Customer Review: MUNCHKIN is RIGHT! This tub is SMALL.
Summary: 3 Stars

First let me say that this is an adorable tub. Our first tub for our daughter was the best tub on the market for infants, which is the Primo Eurobath (which can be found on this site) and it has been, hands down, a SPECTACULAR product that continues to be wonderful even now when our daughter is nearly 22 months-old. The Eurobath is a hands-free tub which means the world when you're trying to wash a slipper little baby. The only reason we thought it might be time to move our daughter to the duck tub was because she splashes so much now and soaks the walls (and us) when in the Primo Eurobath on the sink top. She's too little to just set in the regular adult tub without some kind of support though. Our daughter is on the small side. She wears size 18 pants at 22 months and she's in the 50th percentile for height, less for weight. When we blew up the duck tub we were shocked to find that it was way too small for her now. When she sits in the duck tub the bottoms of her feet are flush against the wall. It's also very narrow inside so if we put her bath toys in with her, they would be piled on her lap; that would make washing her hard and playing very hard for her. If you buy this tub just know that it's VERY small and it probably won't get you anywhere near the 24 month age it claims to reach. I would say this tub won't get you much past a year old -- or even less if you have a bigger kid. The Primo Eurobath is still plenty big for our daughter at 22 months and will be for a while. We decided that for now, we'll probably just set it inside the big tub or consider a bath seat. If you're looking for a tub for a baby -- please don't consider this duck tub for an infant. The Primo Eurobath is what you need until your child is able to sit up unassisted and is confident in the tub. However, beware that your child must also still be pretty small for this duck tub to be worth it for you. It's adorable and appears well made -- it's just very small.

Customer Review: WAAAAAAAAY BETTER THAN THE STUPID PRIMO EUROBATH THAT EVERYONE RAVED ABOUT!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

So, being a new mom, I looked at all of the reviews on Amazon for baby bathtubs and I thought that if everyone loved the Primo Eurobath, I'd get that one, even though it didn't look so great to me! Well, I should've listened to my instincts, because when I got the tub, it seemed HUGE, but I tried it anyway....and my daughter HATED it! It didn't matter that I kept my hands and arms close to her the whole time, or how I tried to soothe her - she screamed and cried and screeched so much through the FEW baths that I gave her (and seemed genuinely scared) that I ended up giving her sink-side sponge baths for the past 18 months (and, yes, I did try the Primo repeatedly, as recently as several weeks ago)!! I wasn't sure if I'd EVER be able to get her to take a bath, but then I thought that maybe an inflatable tub might be worth a shot, esp if it were somewhat smaller (and would possibly make her feel more supported and secure). Well, when I saw this one, I thought it couldn't be more perfect, because it's cute and would probably help distract her a little bit, especially since it quacks (via an electronic device in the beak)! WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF FIRST LAYING EYES ON THIS TUB, SHE ACTUALLY LET ME PUT HER IN IT (FIRST SITTING ON THE SIDE WITH HER FEET IN THE WATER), AND WITHIN 10 MINUTES SHE WAS IN IT AND ACTUALLY ENJOYING IT! I also bought her the Crayola floating art desk ($[...]), and she LOVED that! So, between the new ducky tub and her bath crayons, my daughter, who HATED bathtime since she was born, is now happily playing in the bath every night!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE PRIMO EUROBATH!! EVEN IF THIS ONE SPRINGS A LEAK FOR SOME REASON (which mine hasn't yet, but I read that in some of the reviews), I'LL JUST BUY ANOTHER ONE IF I CAN'T REPAIR IT! SOOOOO WORTH THE MONEY IF IT GOT MY DAUGHTER TO ENJOY BATHING!

Customer Review: Best $10 EVER spent for my babies!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This has been the best thing ever to bathe my girls. (14 mos & 3yrs) I have had the same duck for over 2 years with absolutely no problems. I don't know what some are talking about when they say how hard it is to fill, wash and rinse your kid. I have been able to do all of the above with ease using a plastic bowl. I first use it to fill the tub and then I fill it with water and set it aside. After my baby is washed and done playing I have them stand up, I pour clean, warm water over them and scoop them up with a big, fluffy towel. How is that hard? Please, even my husband agrees that this is the easiest way to bathe the girls while they are small. He NEVER did it until I bought this! My oldest is 3 and although she can take a bath in the big tub, she still enjoys the duck because she says she can "relax at the spa", she means leans back on the sides with her legs hanging over. ;-) My youngest loves it and I can actually spruce up the bathroom while she plays in the tub. I never leave her alone but I don't have to keep holding on to her. This tub has made bathtime the absolute, hands-down easiest time of the day. Never any arguments when they here "bathtime", in fact, it was the only thing that would soothe them when they were fussy.
Now as far as clean-up. Also a breeze. Just unplug drain while you are rinsing your kid. let drain while you are dressing them. When you go back in the bathroom to hang the towels, just rinse tub with plastic bowl filled with clean, hot water. Flip it upside down. Go read your babies their bedtime stories and when you're done make a pitstop in the bathroom to stick it to the wall or hang it on a hook with the loop that is attached. Easy-peasy! You have clean, happy kids and a clean tub ready for tomorrow night. Life is good...

Customer Review: Fun In My Huge Tub
Summary: 5 Stars

My experience may not apply to you, if you don't have a ridiculously oversized tub that requires about $15 extra a month in gas and water bills to fill for a bath. If such is the case, please feel free to stop reading here. I won't be offended.

But I do have a ridiculously oversized tub, and I'm so glad I bought this bath. Yes, it's large, but that's a safety feature for me - my squirmy 11-month-old can't climb out and get trapped between the duck and the tub walls. I have no problem filling or emptying the bath from my water spigot, so I'm not experiencing any of the difficulties with this that other reviewers have. The suction cup on the bottom really is meaningless; the bath won't hang from my tiled walls because they're slightly convex, so I just leave it in the tub, upside down, and wipe it down with an antibacterial cloth after use. The bath fills with air quickly and stays inflated, which is a novelty for me in the world of baby inflatable stuff. I've had to top up the air once in the past seven months. The "hot" button seems to me to be a bit sensitive, but maybe my child just likes his bath water warmer than average. He loves the fact that it's yellow and the same shape as his duck toys. He likes to put bubbles on the duck's head. He kicks back against the tail and chills occasionally. So I'd say he enjoys the shape, color, and style, while I enjoy the safety and economy. All in all, I'm sad he's going to outgrow this tub, and that they don't make it in my size.

Customer Review: Thought it was dopey until one day...
Summary: 4 Stars

Someone gave this to us as a baby shower gift. I smiled on the outside and on the inside thought "WHY would anyone want an inflatable tub? What am I supposed to do with this?"

Well, our baby was a teeny preemie and for the longest time we washed her in a hard plastic baby tub inside our bathtub. Then we moved to the kitchen sink because both of us parents' backs were about to give out from leaning over the tub. Then one day our baby discovered the joy of splashing and nearly flooded our kitchen. So back to the bathroom we went. But wait! Baby was too big for the hard plastic tub. So we tried bathing her loose. Her bottom was slippery and she wound up sliding and hitting her head a couple of times while I tried to bathe her. No, that wasn't going to work.

Then I remembered the crazy blow up duck tub. I ran and got it out, blew it up, and baby laughed and laughed at it. You squeeze its nose and it quacks. It has a temperature dot in the bottom-I take away one star for this because it reads HOT when the water is still cold. But we were able to put baby in there and as long as we were nearby we were able to allow her to splash and be rambunctious in this blow up tub without further injuries. Three months later it is still in great condition and baby still loves it.

Would recommend!! It's not as crazy as it sounds!
