Baby Products Reviews of Munchkin Two Snack Catchers, Colors May VaryCustomer Review: They are great!...until they get used for a bit. Summary: 2 Stars
We were very excited when we first received the snack catchers! No longer would we deal with my son just spilling anything he had in the cup! When we first received these, they worked great! The plastic on the top was very tight. He had no problem getting his hand in there and taking out his cheerios (or whatever else we had in there) and when it flipped over....NOTHING! Woo hoo!
Well, now we have had them for a couple months. Through use, washing, wear and tear, the plastic does not hold as well. Sure, if he flips it over or it falls, not everything comes pouring out, but it now lets some stuff out. I guess you shouldn't expect these to last very long considering the price, and you can always just buy new ones, but we honestly didn't use them THAT much to where they should have been that bad!
The packaging says they are dishwasher safe, we used that instead of hand-washing as we felt that hand-washing would put more strain on the plastic. Turns out it didn't matter! Maybe we were wrong in our assumption! We all know what assuming does....
Customer Review: Wish i had these earlier!! Summary: 5 Stars
These are the coolest things you could possibly have if you child is already snacking on goldfish, cereal, grapes or anything small like that. they can grab and hold their own food without you having to worry about picking up a mess later. there's no lid that you have to remove, unlike what i used to have to remove when i carried my sons snacks around. they're ready to go! these are especially great for the car. with my son my car is a disaster from all the little things he used to eat and then drop. this is no longer an issue with this. although my son is a little thinker and loves to figure out how things work, so when he's bored he'll get fancy and make a small mess, but as long as your kid is hungry and isn't too worried about how this little cup is supplying their food, no worries for you. i especially like these ones compared to another brand, "snack trap" i believe, these are see through, and i think they look a lot better. i like the way the plastic feels also.
all in all, get these!!! eliminate messes everywhere you go! why NOT get them?
Customer Review: Great for kids and parents Summary: 5 Stars
Our toddler has been using one of these since she was about 8 months old. She likes it because it gives her something to hold on to--and she loves snacks of course. We love these because they can be thrown in the baby bag and later pulled out when needed. They are also great in the car seat or stroller.
Pros:
- Easy for small hands to hold.
- Easy to disassemble and clean in dishwasher (two piece).
- Two come in a pack--you'll want both of them.
- Good for snacks that are not too crumby. Earth's Best Crunchin' Crackers are perfect and available by the case on here.
Cons:
- Kids will make a mess even with a snack catcher. Pulling stuff out is so much fun sometimes.
- We gave one away and now want another for backup so I'm back ordering these again.
Overall a great tool for your toddler management toolbox.
Customer Review: not perfect, but better than anything else we've tried Summary: 4 Stars
It took my son a while to get the hang of this snack cup. He's oddly gentle with everything, and didn't like having his hand in the cup with the lid around his wrist. Once we put a suitably enticing snack in, though, he got over his qualms and now has no trouble getting his hand in or snacks out.
The manufacturer's claim that it's spill-proof is just plain silly, though. Yes, you can invert it and nothing falls out (except maybe a few cheerios, since they're small and can slip sideways through the flaps). However, depending on what kind of snack you have in there, some will stick to your child's hand and go flying everywhere during the course of snack time. Anything cereal-like tends to have this problem.
The biggest problem we have with this snack cup is that now when my son sees it and knows he's getting snacks, he sometimes gets so excited that he loses his balance and falls over.
Customer Review: Great as long as you don't have unreasonable expectations. Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great product as long as you remember you are still giving them to a 3 foot con-artist/escape artist who get out of and make a mess out of anything. The cup as a whole is well designed for travel snacking and around the house snacks. The slotted top is sturdy enough that my 15 month old can get his hand in but not a fist full of snacks out. However, if you blindly throw a handful of crackers with some broken bits and small crumbs in there, any toddler quickly figures out how to use the cup as a shaker to sprinkle crumbs all over the house. These are great to use in stores to keep a fussy kid busy with a few snacks while you finish up the shopping. All in all my kid loves it, however, as I stated up front, don't think that any of these snack cups are going to provide a "mess free" experience.... just a reduced mess one.
