Customer Review: Opened by 11 month old in minutes.....
Summary: 2 Stars

I really wanted to love this snack holder. My neices and nephews have had them and they used them with great success, the reason I bought them in fact. I got these this spring, back in March. My daughter was 10 months old and not interested in using them, her skills just didn't match. One month later, I tried to give her this again.... she could use it! I was SO happy, success!

In June, we took a trip to the zoo, gorgeous day, handed her the Snack Catcher and she happily ate some of her snacks, I was ELATED. 5 minutes later she says, uh-oh! Sheepishly she looks up at me.... She was covered in snacks! The lid was in her hands. Mind you, I had a HARD time getting it on! I just knew she would NOT be able to get it open... SO, I hand the contraption back to her.... in less than 25 seconds she had bitten the lid off, AGAIN!

I just pulled these back out to let her use them again, just to see what would happen. It is now October and she is almost 17 months old. Little stinker, she bit the lid right off, in less than 15 seconds! She hadn't even seen these since June and hadn't played with them and had them in her chubby little fingers less than 15 seconds! I know, I stood guard over her to see what she would do and how quickly!

I give this product such a low mark for several reasons, my little one can dump eveything out, with the lid on or off, not to mention she can take the lid off whenever she pleases! Oh, and they warp in the dishwasher and then look funky. Thus making little ones want to investigate them further. My catchers have only been in the top rack of the dishwasher twice! They are both warped! I REALLY WANTED TO LOVE THESE, JUST ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN, save your money and get a MUNCHIE MUG! WORTH THE MONEY!

Customer Review: Pretty good.
Summary: 4 Stars

Just got these. We like the original snack traps a lot, but they are only carried at Babies R Us, which is not convenient for us. Found these Munchkins at Walmart so bought a couple to try. The lowdown between the 2:

Durability: I can already see these are not as well constructed as the snack traps. The plastic seems flimsier, very similar to other Munchki products that have cracked on me in the past. Winner: Snack Trap

Top fit: These tops are snugger than the ones on the snack traps which is good. With a good drop, the tops on the snack traps come flying off. Winner: Munchkin

Usage: The tops on these have larger flaps which is (1) bad because things like Cheerios fall out easily but (2) allow larger snacks like apple wedges. The overall larger size of these, though, make them the winner for me in this category. You couldn't really serve things like mini-nilla wafers in the snack traps without some frustration. I do wish they kept in small snacks like cheerios better, but once your kid learns to not tip the cup sideways to get the snacks, it's nice. Winner: Munchkin.

Convenience: The snack traps have tops so you can throw them in your purse without worrying about snacks spilling. I have not seen similar tops for these. Winner: Snack trap

Value: These are much cheaper. Winner: duh.

Honestly, I'd get a couple of each for different situations. You really cannot give your small toddler cheerios in these without major spillage.

Customer Review: Wonder Cups
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought these with very low expectations, I must admit. When I took them out of the box, the first thing that crossed my mind was, "Yeah right! These aren't going to hold anything in!"

Unbelievably, they actually hold in my son's little snacks. No matter how hard you shake them, (oh and I shook them like it was Cinco de Mayo and they were maracas) those little cheerios, rice puffs or whatever else you cram in there, actually STAY IN THERE. Honest to God. Compared to giving your child a snack sized ziplock bag of goldfish crackers, this cup is Fort Worth. The first thing my son does with a ziplock bag is turn the sucker over and dump it out. He can shake the heck out of this cup while strapped in the back seat of my car, and I might have two lowly goldfish who miraculously broke out of this wonder cup.

The bottom of the cup has a rubber grip ring so it won't slide around either. A nice touch. My son likes to see how far things slide across flat surfaces. I'm convinced he'll be the world air hockey champion when he grows up.

Be warned, my son did figure out the "trick" to shaking the snacks free from the cup. He puts a finger in and pushes down one of the flaps and it allows cheerios out like a slow faucet leak. Not Niagra, but a trickle. If you're paying enough attention, you can stop the shake down before it gets too messy. These cups are worth the couple bucks it costs to ship them and if you lose them, they were only A COUPLE BUCKS.

Customer Review: Disappointed, better than open cup, but does not work like advertised
Summary: 2 Stars

I was excited about this cup from the moment I found out about it. Now that I finally bought it, I'm so disappointed. The snacks don't stay in very well if it tips, and my daughter can shake them out easily (the gaps between the flaps are a lot bigger than in the picture). While there is less mess than with an open cup, there's still a mess... and if she had just dumped an open cup in her lap, it would be easier to pick up (all in one place) than when they fly across the room when she shakes it. I also wish there was a lid because if it tips in the diaper bag, they're going to be everywhere, plus stuff can fall into the cup too. I'm going to use it when we're outside and the cereal or whatever can be squirrel treats when we leave (and figure out a way to cover it), but not in the house or car-- I'll just keep putting a little pile in front of her then. Hopefully the shaking will not be an issue when she's a little older and then we can use it all the time. I probably won't recommend this to friends, unless they just want it for outdoor activities.

Update: A couple days after I wrote this, my neighbor watched her and found a bug in the cup, so we dumped that batch. I was using it to feel like I got my money's worth, but that's not going to happen if we have to keep dumping the snacks because of icky stuff getting in. I have a plastic sandwich bag over it right now, but it was very hard to get it on there and it only protects it about 90% because it isn't big enough to close.

Customer Review: Pretty good, just not magic, of course.
Summary: 4 Stars

I got these for my two year old daughter recently. I guess most people are using them for the car or walking about the house. We actually wanted them to put in the bed with her at night. (She has drastic blood sugar drops and does much better if she can eat some cereal and go back to sleep.) We're still getting some pieces in the bed. I think realistically this isn't avoidable when a toddler is reaching in and pulling out little bits of stuff. But its reduced the shrapnel from entire spilled bowls to maybe a very small palm full. For us, the best benefit is that it can get knocked over, rolled on, and lay upside down in the bed without spilling a thing. It is great for stopping accidental spills. I know that a lot of the reviewers were saying that their children were able to remove the lid. If you're trying to stop intentional spills, then of course these aren't going to work. Removing the lid isn't rocket science. However, if you're dealing with an issue where telling the kid that they shouldn't remove the lid doesn't work, then they'd likely just throw food on the floor anyway.

In a nutshell, if you're looking for something that will do a reasonable job containing spills due to tipped containers, this works nicely.
