Baby Products Reviews of Munchkin Mozart Magic Cube

Customer Review: a toy for my little composer-wanna-be :D
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a great toy, when it first arrived, the first thing that I did was checking its quality based on its exterior first, I was relieved that there are no defects in any parts, no chipped plastics, looks very solid and very durable. But the next part is the most exciting part which is I turned on the toy (the batteries are already included), whoa!, this thing can seriously teach kids to distinguish each instrument's sound, you can hear only the piano, or piano plus harp, or all of the instruments at the same time, even the lights on each instrument is blinking according to their tunes! and you can see how they relate to each other until the end of the song. And the song selection is great, I don't know much about classical music (though I know the popular ones), but the songs they choose in this toy is great, very interesting and stimulating classical tunes for your kids to explore.

Customer Review: Great toy! Great sound!
Summary: 5 Stars

Our son loves this toy. He is presently nine months old and although he doesn't fully understand the concept of turning various instruments on and off by touching the sides of the cube, he is still is entertained. This is a toy that will grow with him in the future as he begins to understand the different instruments concept. The music is electronic, but it it pleasing to the ear and there is good variety in both the songs and the different instrument sounds. The music is pleasing to adult ears as well, unlike many other musical toys on the market today. We like the cushy "points" on the cube, so there aren't sharp ends on this product. We purchased this toy for 19.99 here on Amazon (back in October), rather than for the 40 plus dollars listed now (December), so it is a good idea to price compare and try to bundle this with another product. Overall, great toy--highly recommended!

Customer Review: Wonderful toy for babies and toddlers!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful toy. I bought it for my son when he was a young toddler (probably sometime in 2008). He liked it, but wasn't in love with it. My second child is now 13 months, and she LOVES this toy. She always pushes the buttons and dances to the music. I host a playgroup for children between 7 months and 3 years, and this is a wonderful toy to have out for all to enjoy. The babies tend to play with it more, but the toddlers like to come over to see what they are doing. I bought this in November as a baby shower present as well. Both times, I purchased the product on sale (I think for around sixteen dollars). For that price, it is definitely worth it. I'd also like to note that I have only had to change the batteries once in the 2 years I have owned this. It definitely sounds awful when the batteries are dying. Overall, a wonderful toy for babies and young toddlers!

Customer Review: Terrific toy but not durable
Summary: 4 Stars

My 22-month-old twins luuuuuuuuuvvv this little Mozart cube (one of them in particular -- he tries to take it everywhere he goes!). Unfortunately there is no button to lower the sound, as there is on many musical toys, but it is Mozart, so it isn't grating to adult ears. This is a terrific toy and I'm sure it's good for my little guys to be listening to world-class music. However, the toy itself is not very durable, in my opinion. We've only had it three weeks, and already the sound has stopped playing (though the lights still light up). My little nephew has one of these cubes as well, and his mom pointed out that although his still works, the plastic cover has cracked, causing them to wrap it in plastic tape so that it would not fall apart. I am buying a second one for my boys because they adore it -- but if this one dies too, that's it. No more cubes at twenty bucks a pop.

Customer Review: Great toy... for the hearing impaired
Summary: 3 Stars

We got our twin boys this Mozart Magic Cube for Christmas, when they were 6 months old. We liked everything about it...except that it was TOO LOUD! I've actually been amazed at the number of baby toys that are annoyingly loud. Some to the point that they made our babies cry (like this one). I've actually had to place duct tape over speaker holes on numerous things such as mobiles, play gyms, and an activity table because otherwise those products are great, just loud. But therein lies the problem with this toy - there is no obvious speaker hole on it. It's as if the annoyingly loud music emanates from every crevice. Which is why it has been put away since Christmas. Now that the boys are 9.5 months I may try to bring it out again and see if they will tolerate it. If not I'll just sell this overpriced piece of plastic at my MOMs Resale next month.
