Baby Products Reviews of Munchkin Mighty Grip Flip Straw Cups 2-Pack, 10- Ounce (Colors Vary)Customer Review: Not for biters Summary: 4 Stars
My daughter has an oral fixation and tends to chew up the plastic straws on her other disposable cups. I thought that the different texture on this cup would avert that tendency, however she began chewing on these silicone straws also. Unfortunately, the straw did not hold up to the demands and were cut through almost within hours of my giving her the cup. The Nuby cups have stood up much better to her teeth and have the added benefit of having replacement straws easily available. The Nuby straw cups do however have the disadvantage that it is a bit harder to suck water through their straws than the Mighty Grip Flip cups. But the Grip Flip cups are slightly more ergonomic and lighter. If I didn't have a biter, I'd prefer this cup.
Customer Review: Finally a cup the kids can use Summary: 5 Stars
The Shape of the cup was my first impressed feeling. It's a tapered curve that appeals to both my 3 year old and my 8 month old. Yes it does leak when lying on it's side. For water I didn't care. I wanted the spils to stop and this does it.
The 3 year old gets the complete cup. The 8 month old gets the plastic stopper removed. This is specifically due to the ammount of suction that is required for the kid to drink from the cup. I don't agree with sippy cups due to the extra step it takes to get the baby to start drinking when we are on the go. That whole dumping the drink down the front is just not appealing.
With this cup, Yes there are many like it, my kids like it and that, when it comes to getting out of the house and going without a fuss, makes the most important difference in the world.
Customer Review: Leaky and Shoddily Made Summary: 1 Stars
I'm shocked other reviewers thought this was a great cup. They are so shoddily constructed that when mine arrived on one cup the thingy you flip to cover the straw had already popped off, despite being in pretty sturdy packaging. It was difficult to put back on. The flip-top is very difficult to flip back and forth - my 15mo couldn't do it, while he can easily open and close the Playtex ones.
The worst part was that these cups leak. A lot. My son throws his cup off the highchair when I'm not looking. The Playtex ones never leak. These leak most of the contents immediately from where the cap screws on to the bottom.
I just threw them out -- I'd rather count the $ spent on them wasted than be forever cleaning up milk off the floor.
Customer Review: Difficult to clean Summary: 2 Stars
Pros: No leakage through straw even when tilted upside down, easy for small hands to grab, BPA-free, colorful.
Cons: Due to poor design (ridges, numerous parts, nooks & tight spots) it's really difficult to clean unless you're using small pointy things like toothpicks. The body of the bottle has numerous ridges on the inside and many angles and small tight spots from all the different parts of the lid and straw. Because of the way the bottle curves, it's difficult to clean all the ridges on the inside of the bottle. In the end, I used a combination of small straw cleaners, toothpicks, paper towels and a fork to clean the bottle. And now, it sits mostly as a last minute bottle when all the others are either dirty or misplaced.
Customer Review: Leaks, among other issues. Summary: 2 Stars
These were my second attempt to find a good sippy cup with a straw and I'm disappointed yet again. I thought, based on the reviews, that these would be better than the other cups I'd tried - which had too many parts - but they really aren't. Sure, there is one less piece to the straw, but you have to dismantle the flip top to get the straw apart (ultimately resulting in the same number of parts). And they are just as tricky to get apart. They also hold less liquid than the others. Finally, and MOST disappointing, these leaked more than the previous brand I tried - a lot more. So, ultimately, I'm going to end up using these for water and buying more of the others for everything else. Now I need to go ammend my other review...
