Customer Review: The best cup we've tried

We decided to skip the sippy cup stage altogether and train our daughter to drink from a straw cup instead. This was the first cup we bought, and eight months later, she's still having great success with them.
The cup itself is very durable, in our experiences. After months of being in the dishwasher every night, they've held up well and haven't warped or anything. The straws have maintained their integrity as well. Now, on to that tricky little flip top...
For the first few months, I didn't realize that the part you flip is MEANT to COME OFF. I didn't read the instructions that came in the cup, so it was my own fault. I was scared I would break it, so I never tried to pry it off. When we bought a couple more, I read the directions, and they're super-easy to put together. Yeah, it takes a little bit of hand strength to get the flip top off, but when you have a toddler like mine who can open or break anything they get their little hands on, having something that only mom & dad can do is a plus in my book. The same goes for flipping the straw open or closed. A toddler is probably not strong enough to do this on their own, but I like being able to decide when they can drink and when they can't. If it's water in the cup, I can give it to my 15-month old in her car seat open. If it's milk, on the other hand, I don't always want her to be able to get it everywhere (not because of leaks, but more because of the hole that miraculously forms in her chin from time to time).
Speaking of leaks, we haven't really had a problem with that. We tried the Playtex straw cups and found that they leak fairly often so we only use those at the high chair. With these cups, the only leak issue is if the cup is too full and you screw the lid on tightly, the pressure can cause the liquid in the cup to come out of the straw. So long as it's not overfilled, it's generally not an issue.
All in all, we're very satisfied with these.
