Baby Products Reviews of Munchkin 6 Pack Soft-Tip Infant Spoon, Colors May Vary

Customer Review: Great spoons, despite some drawbacks
Summary: 4 Stars

First, the pros - the spoons are a nice, flexible plastic that's easy on the baby's gums (and boy, does he love to chew on them!), the spoon well is deep enough to hold a substantial mouthful of food, the handles are nice and long, the colors are cute, they wash well, and the handles are ergonomic and feel nice when held.

And then, the one con - like previous reviewers have mentioned, because of the long, ergonomic handle, they are unbalanced, and when you have one in a small, almost empty bowl, they will fall out of the bowl, often flipping the bowl itself and getting food everywhere.

For me, the pros outweighed the cons, so instead of keeping the spoon in the bowl during feeding, I simply turn it over and lean it on the outside of the bowl, or rest it on a napkin. My son loves them, and that's enough reason for me to keep them around and adjust to the one small nuisance in design.

Customer Review: Falls out of shallow bowls and flips over
Summary: 2 Stars

These spoons drive me crazy! They make almost as much mess as the baby! The handles are very round, so they roll over easily if you try to lean them against the side of a small shallow bowl, causing whatever food is in the spoon (which is heavier than the plastic) will fall downward. And since the handles are heavier than the spoon part, they fall out of bowls easily unless there is enough food (at least an inch) to hold them in place or perhaps if the bowl is bigger. I give these spoons two stars, though, because they are nice to hold (not too heavy or light), have bright colors, and hold a good amount of food. If I didn't have to lay them down at any point during the feeding, they would be fine. But inevitably, one has to stop and wipe up the baby's face/hands or otherwise attend to other situations, which makes these are very impractical.

Customer Review: Love the long handle and soft plastic, depth of spoon
Summary: 5 Stars

I had the Take n Toss cheap plastic spoons to start out solid feedings with my son. The handles were way too short and gave my hands cramps every time I fed him. These spoons are everything I wanted to change in the others - long handle, good sized scoop and depth, bright colors, soft bendable plastic at the end.

I do agree that it's annoying to stick the spoon in a jar and have it fall out because the handle is heavier than the spoon end, but I think it's worth the comfort of using these spoons to deal with that issue. I've just learned not to leave the spoon sitting in a shallow baby food jar and instead to lay it on the counter with the spoon end sitting on the jar lid or something.

These are even some of my son's favorite toys. He loves to carry these spoons around the house while he crawls.

Customer Review: Not a great spoon
Summary: 3 Stars

I am using this spoon for past 7/8 months. These are durable and have fun colors. My son liked them.
They are not very great though because of the design. The bottom or stem of the spoon is very heavy so when you keep the spoon in bowl it falls out of the bowl due to the stem weight. The weight also maked it easy to topple out of the bowl even with slightest jerk. My son could splash the food all over the table and sometimes on the floor with slightest movement. My mom and mother in law were so frustrated with these spoons that they wanted me to throw them away. Only thing that kept me from getting rid of these were I bought a pack of 6! Had it been only couple of them I would have replaced them with some light weight spoons immediately.

Customer Review: Handle Is Too Heavy - Nice Overall
Summary: 3 Stars

These spoons are soft and in playful colors. They look innocent enough until you go to use one ... then you see the problem (lol). The handle is heavy enough that often when you place the spoon in a dish with a low/narrow mouth the spoon tips over and falls onto whatever surface you are using to feed. As a result there is a splattering of food to clean up. Many of the infant bowls out there are low, small and narrow. Sure, you could use a regular sized bowl but if you have a very young child who is only going to have a small amount of food, trying to scoop out watery, pureyed veggies, fruit, rice cereal etc will have you scooping all over the bowl.

Cute spoons, but someone didn't think when they designed these.
