Baby Products Reviews of Munchkin 6 Pack Soft-Tip Infant Spoon, Colors May VaryCustomer Review: Awesome Baby Spoons Summary: 5 Stars
I like these spoons a lot more than I thought I would.
I like the fact that they hold a decent amount of food. If your baby is a pretty big eater and likes to eat quickly, these spoons will help so that he doesn't get frustrated easily when food isn't getting to his mouth as quickly as he would like.
I also like the fact that there are 6 spoons in this pack vs. having to buy spoons individually. Inevitably, some spoons will make it to the floor while trying to feed your little one, so it's much easier reaching for a clean spoon to continue the current feeding and then washing the first one later on when the feeding is over.
The tips have not hurt my little fellow's gums and he's been teething since he was about 3 months old. Currently, he's almost 7 months old and no teeth yet, but his gums are constantly swollen. However, he has never cried because we've hurt his gums with these spoons.
I'm happy with these spoons. I'm very happy that I didn't have to purchase other spoons first before finding these. I would buy them again and recommend it to anyone. You will be happy with your purchase.
Customer Review: Great spoons Summary: 5 Stars
I originally was using the padded spoons that turn white when the food is too hot. I could never get a good amount of food on them, they were short handled and I didn't find the temperature feature useful as I check the temperature of my babies food first anyway. So on my hunt I found these. I really like Munchkin products and this is no different.
The spoons have longer handles which means I don't have to be 2" from my son's face. I can sit down while he's in the highchair and comfortably feed him. They also have soft tips which I love because it doesn't hurt him when he chews the spoon along with the food. Speaking of, these fit the perfect amount of food on them. The colors are bright and fun but I don't notice him staring at them, he's too busy looking around the dining room. Some of the colors are girly but he's 5 months old, I don't think he cares right now that his spoon has a pink tip and not blue. As he gets older I'll phase out the girl colors for him. They are also dishwasher safe, top rack, which is a big plus for me. I don't buy anything I can't throw in the dishwasher. Good purchase, I highly recommend them.
Customer Review: Poor center of gravity Summary: 2 Stars
These spoons are okay: they have a soft tip, my eight month olds like grabbing them and feeding themselves/chewing the spoon and handle to relieve teething.
Two things make them less than ideal:
* First, the bowl is a little deep for babies just starting solids: it's hard for them to get all the food out of the spoon. This is less of an issue as the babies get older and become more efficient eaters, but it is frustrating for baby and caregiver during the first few weeks of eating solids - I'd recommend using a flatter spoon as a first spoon.
* Second, the centre of gravity in this spoon is in the handle - guaranteeing that if you put it down in a bowl of food (e.g. the Nuk bowls) it is going to fall out of the bowl and onto the table or floor. This drives me nuts, since with twins to feed of course I have to put the spoon down at some point to feed the other baby. At this point I just start every meal with extra clean spoons at hand and accept that I'll have to retrieve these spoons and clean up some spatter. For this reason I would recommend against buying these spoons.
Customer Review: hands down BEST ever Summary: 5 Stars
I bought Gerber spoons with my first baby because that's all I had ever seen. They're spoons right? Near the end of her baby spoon days, I found these spoons. OH.MY.GOD. the BEST spoons ever! Not only do they clean up better and faster, they don't stain as easily, they fit the baby's mouths better, and they are still just as comfortable to use even though they don't have the soft tips (Gerber spoons are definitely "soft", which is very appealing for new babies). I actually don't care for the softer tips because they soak in the color/stain of the food and they don't clean well. Munchkin has done it again in creating the best of all worlds for our beloved little ones. Got a little dribble from your new "real-food" eater? Just use the spoon to scoop it right up and back into his/her mouth :) These are awesome and I bought a set for everyone that was around us when we had our second baby. I've saved them now for my lil sis too :D Best ever, hands down! (Not to mention the CUTE and happy vibrant colors!)
Customer Review: BEST Spoons for Young Eaters! Summary: 5 Stars
Pros:
*LONG Handle is easier to grip than other popular brands
*B/C they're molded plastic in one piece, they clean EASY in dishwasher/by hand (Unlike Gerber spoons)!
*Very colorful-perfect for boys or girls
*VERY soft plastic-great for beginner to advanced eaters
Con: The ends of these spoons are heavy, so if you place them in a tall empty jar/bowl, the container will tip more times than not. Just something you've got to remember...
We've bought 3 sets of these so that our little guy has spoons at our home and his grandparents' homes. Everyone had previously purchased other brands of baby spoons (Gerber and Nuk), and remarked about how much easier to use these are! As soon as my son starts to feed himself, with utensils, we might transition to a shorter spoon, but these are perfect for our family at his current stage!
FYI: These can be found WAY cheaper at Target.
