Baby Products Reviews of Moby Wrap Original 100% Cotton Baby Carrier, Chocolate

Customer Review: A baby carrier you will actually use
Summary: 5 Stars

The Moby Wrap is one of my family's favorite baby products. Our newborn daughter (our second child) loves it--she falls asleep in the hug hold or cradle hold 7 times out of 10. Tying the Moby is an art not a science. Like all arts, it has to be perfected. We still flub it up on occasion but we expect that. We also have an Ergo baby carrier that we bought before our daughter was born. We thought we could use it for a newborn but discovered that it was not ideal for our newborn (not enough head support and no place for her legs in the upright hold--the only hold she liked for the first several weeks of her life). So we bought a Moby Wrap (in slate--a beautiful color) to use until she can comfortably use the Ergo.

Unfortunately, we didn't have the Moby Wrap for our son (our first child). We instead had a generic ring sling and a Baby Bjorn. Both products were extremely disappointing. If I were advising parents-to-be, I would say the only carrier you need to start out with is the Moby Wrap. If you can master the tying (YouTube has several very good clips), it should serve you well for a long time. And then later if you find that the stretchy material that was so great for creating a comfy nook for your 7.5lb newborn is now too droopy with a 22lb toddler, at that point buy the Ergo.

Customer Review: I can't believe it took me six children to find this!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've never been a big "baby wearer" because I could never find a sling that was comfortable for me to use. Our sixth child is now two months old and I decided I had to have something because I need my hands free for the other children. I went to the store (the BIG Baby one) and tried out a few of their carriers. I've always been intimidated by the Moby because it seems so complicated. I almost walked away, but threw on the Moby wrap (and it was easy to do using the display and directions from a package). I put my baby in and she immediately cuddled up to me and started cooing.

We brought it home and she's been in it so much here at home. We homeschool and she contentedly rests in it while we are schooling and I have two hands available to teach long division! My three-year-old asked me to put her in it (she's less than 35lbs) because she wanted to try it. As soon as I put her in, she said, "It feels like lots of hugs." Of course, I won't use it for the three-year-old, but her saying that just melted my heart. If it feels that good to her, it has to be awesome for a tiny baby! And even with my big three-year-old in it, I did not feel a strain on my back at all.

Another plus, my sons think I look like Obi-Wan when I wear it. They call it my "Obi Wrap". ;-)

Customer Review: Great for constant nursers, babies who always want to be held, and moms who have things to do.
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter is 22 days old, she weighs 4lbs 13oz, I love our Moby wrap, and my daughter likes it t oo. My daughter is a constant nurser, and always wants to be held, so I put the moby on and put her in it, to breastfeed, and just to be close to me, the moby wrap allows me to provide the comfort, and support my daughter wants. It is easy and comfortable for both of us, works great for us when nursing, and I am able to get a few things done while caring for her, and holding her, that I otherwise wouldnt be able to do without my moby. I am able to follow the instructions and put it on easily, but I wouldnt feel comfortable putting it on anywhere that isnt clean, so I put it on before I leave the house. It is a great wrap! I highly recomend it. It works great, it looks good on, it supports my tiny daughter, helps with bonding and breastfeeding, my daughter feels secure and safe, and I have piece of mind, and am able to do things around the house, and with my 2 year old. I have used a few other baby carriers with my 2 other children, the moby wrap is the most comfortable, provides the best support for baby, allows the wearer the most freedom to do other things, and work great for breastfdeeding, in m y opinion moby is the best wrap I have tried.

Customer Review: Love it!
Summary: 4 Stars

I do indeed love this wrap. I've often said, "this is the world's best invention." While it is "only" 18 feet of cotton, it's more than that. The Moby Wrap is unique, and I'm confident it will be able to grow with me and my child as he ages. I'm excited to try the other wrap styles for when he's a little older and can hold himself up properly.
Some other reviewers complained that the wrap didn't work for their kid who was about half of the highest recommended weight; I disagree. My son was about 14 lbs last we checked and the wrap is still working just fine.
I also saw some people who said it didn't work as well because they have curves--hips, remaining baby weight, pre-baby weight, etc.. I got PLENTY of curves and it works just fine.
Different strokes for different folks!

I do agree that you have to put it on before leaving the house if you plan to use it at all because who would want the cotton to drag the ground while putting it on. I have been able to put it on in public as long as I can put the ends in a chair as I wrap it around me.
I also do agree that it does sag a bit after being on awhile--but it IS cotton.

I was super excited to receive this, and I still enjoy it.

Customer Review: Wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought a Moby Wrap for our son, when he was two weeks old. It was amazing. Once we got over the learning curve of how to put it on, we barely took it off for months. I even slept with it on a few times. It is soft and durable and washable. Our son really needed the extra snuggles and HATED being put down. This awesome invention saved my sanity several times during those first rough months. A mom and baby could even nurse discreetly with the Moby, if they were already successful nursers (we weren't). I would put the Moby on, pack up the baby for grocery shopping, and then tuck him into it once we got to the store. I could do laundry or make food with my free hands, pausing now and then to reassuringly pat my baby. It was great. We've bought more as gifts for others.

We also had a baby bjorn (also great, with more structure but less versatility) and a baby sling (which did not work for us). Those are long gone, but we're saving our Moby for the next baby...
