Baby Products Reviews of Moby Wrap Original 100% Cotton Baby Carrier, BlackCustomer Review: It's Stupid. Summary: 1 Stars
I bought the Baby Bijorn which my son did not like. He may like it as he gets older, but for now, he lasts about 15 minutes in it, and then starts crying. So next I tried the Moby Wrap. I suppose it's a good idea in theory, but it's just not very practical. It takes practice to get it tied correctly, and frankly it's quite comical trying to put it on. It's so long that it drags on the floor while you're maneuvering it, and then after the baby is in it, it takes some adjusting to get it just right. What you're left with is a ton of fabric wrapped around you, and you're hoping your child is secure. I think I'll put it in my upstairs bedroom and use it to shimmy down the side of the building in case there's a fire.
Customer Review: Great, if you can figure it out Summary: 3 Stars
I did not realize this was literally one ginormous piece of fabric. While it is pretty comfortable once I finally get it on, and very nice for baby to snuggle in, it's very difficult to get right. I picked this to wear baby around the house, to sooth him when he's fussy, so having a product that takes fifteen minutes to assemble doesn't really work for me. Since most of the configurations are exactly the same wrap pattern, I don't understand why it isn't just sewn that way.
I'm sure other people can get it on faster, but for me, I prefer a Mei Tai like the Kozy Carrier. If you have a masters in fabric folding, get this. Otherwise, I suggest the Maya wrap or a Mei Tai carrier.
Customer Review: Buy the Baby Bjorn instead! Summary: 2 Stars
I registered for this and really looked forward to getting it. I really, really wanted it to work. On those rare occasions when I can get my 6-week old daughter into properly, it does work. The problem is that since it's yards & yards of fabric that you have to re-wrap every time you use it, you never know if baby is going to be in it properly or not! I tried 10 times this morning to put my daughter in it. She was awake & fidgety, and her head kept popping out. GRR!!! I took her out, put her in the Baby Bjorn instead, and we were just fine. I might try the Moby later when she's able to hold her head up (like in ALL the pictures), but for a newborn, I do NOT recommend this product.
Customer Review: A parents dream carrier! Summary: 5 Stars
I wish I would've had this wrap when my first daughter was a baby (she's now a demanding 3-year-old), but I'm glad I got it for my second daughter! Granted, it is a bit long and takes two people or a very long hallway to fold, it is a great baby carrier and an asset to any parents' must-have baby accessory! I benefited from watching the "How To" video on Moby's website, which I think is a must for any person about to use this product for the first time. I've also read reviews stating that this wrap can "heat up" a baby, which I agree with, so be careful in the summer months (you could just leave your baby in a diaper). I plan on using this wrap in Disney World in May 2010!
Customer Review: Origami for your baby! Summary: 5 Stars
The Moby was recommended and used by >10 friends for their babies, so we were delighted to receive ours for our recent newborn. The "fancier" wrap styles may be a little tricky at first, but the included manual (and YouTube video!) is very helpful. Our newborn sleeps very well snuggled in the Moby in the basic wrap pattern, and it allows moms to use both hands around the house and on the go. Our baby goes for a walk in the Moby everyday, and it is also helpful to keep babies well-wrappted & protected in public from germy strangers who want to peer at and touch the new baby!
My husband even wears and LOVES the Moby because we have it in a "non-girly color."
