It's a shame that the manufacturer of Microforce seems to have quality control issues. Judging by the reviewer ratings people either love or hate this shaver... 2/3 vote 4- or 5-star and 1/3 vote 2- or 1-star...No 3 stars! I got my microforce as a Christmas present and have been extremely happy with it. I actually got two razors for Christmas. My other new razor is a high-end Panasonic to replace my trusty old Braun. I won't attempt to compare the Microforce to my Panasonic or Braun except to say that it cuts almost, if not, as close as both. The microforce is not as powerful but still gets the job done. It won't replace my Panasonic for daily use but it has found a nice home in my travel kit. I travel often and like to travel light, so never packed my electric razor. The microforce is so small that it adds no weight or bulk to my travel kit.
I'm curious to see how many shaves you can get from the microforce before charging. I suspect that the microforce may not last too many shaves as it's so tiny and the battery can't hold too much of a charge. I'll update this review after testing a little more.
My recommendation would be to avoid buying online as it seems that 1/3 of the people have serious issues with the microforce. Thus you may end up having to exchange or replace. It's relatively inexpensive so if you're looking for a great little travel razor you may want to take a chance on the Microforce.
UPDATE FEB 16, 2010
I've had a chance to test the battery length on the Microforce. One time I got 7 consecutive days of shaving. I was probably a little conscious about my shaving time, so likely did not shave my usual 4-5 minutes. I then took the Microforce on at trip. I got 5 mornings of shaves using my usual amount of shaving time...As the Microforce is not a powerful as my everyday razor and is not as good as getting tougher (sideways/ingrown stubble) it requires a little more time.
I would also add that I would not use the Microforce as an everyday shaver. It's great for short trips. However in my case I have some problem spots on my neck where the stubble tends to grow sideways or ingrown. My Panasonic (as well as other larger razors) has something that helps raise the stubble giving the razor a better chance to cut it. After my 5 day trip with the Microforce I noticed that some become ingrown.
