Baby Products Reviews of Medela Swing Breast Pump

Customer Review: Wonderful for SAHM's
Summary: 4 Stars

I really thought this was a wonderful pump for stay at home mom's. I'm not sure how great it would be if you were exclusively pumping during the day while working, but for my periodic uses, I loved it. I usually used it on electric power, since I thought it ate through batteries pretty quickly, but when I did need to use it on battery power (like in the car) it worked well too. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I felt like it did not have quite as powerful of a suction on battery, but since I was usually plugged in, that wasn't an issue for me. I did use it while on vacation without my child for 5 days, pumping at least 6 times per day, including two 8 hour car trips, and it worked great!

Customer Review: LOVE THIS!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I did not have the $$ in my budget at this time to purchase the freestyle but still needed an electric pump for my return to work. I watched a demo on youtube of this and realized it was the same set-up as my harmony but with a tube instead of a handle. I was worried about all the various parts excessive cleaning etc that might be involved in some of the more heavy duty electric pumps. I tried this out yesterday and today and it is great. It's even more comfortable than my handpump and I got 4 ounces on one side in about 10 minutes!

Just like the other reviewer here I am tempted to save for another one so I can pump both at the same time and have a back-up. Excellent excellent pump.

Customer Review: Wish I'd bought something else
Summary: 2 Stars

I have been using the Swing to pump since my daughter was born 6.5 months ago. I haven't tried any other pumps, so I don't know if there is something better out there. But I find the Swing completely frustrating to use. As other reviewers have said, milk seems to go up into the tubing often. Also, sometimes it works and I get a couple of ounces but other times I get no milk at all, or just a drop or two. And this is when I KNOW there is milk in there because it's been a couple of hours since I nursed and I can feel my breasts are full. I'll spend 30 minutes pumping with nothing to show for it. I do use the Swing every day, but I wish I'd bought something different.

Customer Review: Love at first pump.
Summary: 5 Stars

When I was pregnant with my 1st, I bought the Medela single deluxe breast pump. It worked, it was just so noisy that I could never pump without waking the whole house. If I would have know how great the swing was, I would have bought it when I first heard about it.

I have a temperamental let down and had trouble with my 1st pump. With the swing it happens [let down] every time. It's 100 times more quiet, and so much quicker. I pump once a day and this is all I need.

I have had no problems with the cord coming out, being too loud, anything else mentioned in the previous comments. I love, love, LOVE it.

Customer Review: Awesome little pump!
Summary: 5 Stars

I just received this pump after trying to pump manually and this little pump is SO great! I tried so many times to manually pump and it is extremely tiring and I was only getting 2 ounces total from both sides! This pump works wonderfully and is very quiet, comfortable, and affordable! I got 4 ounces out of one side the very first time I used it! I also really like that it allows you to discreetly pump because it's so small and very easy to hide (large hamburger size). I would highly recommend this to someone who pumps every so often like myself. It's great to take on trips too as it works very well on batteries!
