Customer Review: not for exclusive pumping

This pump might be fine if you're pumping occasionally. But, I'm pumping exclusively and am on my 3rd Medela pump. I had my first pump for a month before the suction slowed down. I began getting half of the milk I was getting and was obviously still engorged after pumping for 20 minutes. I called Medela and they replaced the pump without much argument. The second pump lasted 6 weeks, then the same issues started. Again, Medela replaced the pump, but this time with lots of attitude from the customer service rep.
So, I'm now on my third pump and am starting to have low suction again. I've cleaned it as suggested by the customer service rep. I've replaced the membranes and checked the tubes and am still having trouble. Medela's message board is full of women who've had the same low suction issues; however, their customer service reps act as if this is an unheard of problem. I guess we'll see if they're willing to send me yet another replacement.

I started off with an Ameda breast pump at [...]. Do not waste your time or money on imitation breast pumps. The Ameda went out after 5 months of everyday use of 4-8 times a day. I decided to invest in a better breast pump because I plan on having more children and also plan to pump for the next few months. Even though your initial investment will be larger with this pump you are already ahead because you are breastfeeding and not buying formula (or at least not exclusively formula)! Of course I am comparing this to my much cheaper brand, but do not make the same mistake that I did and settle for something cheaper. This pump expresses more milk (better suction) and is much smoother during pumping than cheaper pumps. The bag is nice and big and so easy to set up at work. I love that the bottles are bigger to hold more milk (up to 6.5 oz for each bottle). The PIS does not come with a car charger, that is the only con that I can think of.Customer Review: Great customer service!

I don't often write reviews, but I felt I needed to because of the wonderful customer service a received from Medela this morning.
I have a 5-month old son and I am strictly pumping and bottle feeding my baby. This pump has been great to use. It has helped me produce enough milk that when I decide to stop, I will have extra milk stored up for my son for at least a couple months.
Yesterday, my pump stopped working. I was in a panic! I called Medela this morning and told them what was happening to my pump. The customer service rep told me not to worry. They are sending me a brand new pump with overnight shipping! No questions asked. I will need to send back my pump that is not working, but they are even paying for the shipping to do that!
If you have any doubts about what type of pump to buy, please realize the customer service I experienced today was outstanding! I will be a medela customer for life.

I wanted to give my baby milk after I went back to work so I knew I needed a pump. A pump isn't something you get to try out first so I read a lot of reveiws and the hospital gave me a symphony pump since my baby was in NICU for a month.
We bought the Medela because it got many good reveiws, and having the symphony first also convinced me.
- It's powerfull, batteries will wear out after a week or less with frequent use, so just use the plug.
- This kit was portable, although heavy.
- It came with almost everything you need.
- I used mine non stop for nine months; no problems mechanically.
- It'snot the most comfortable in the world, had to buy my own breast sheilds to get proper fit.
- Also the bottled do not come with nipples / rings.
It can be bought for less at a direct dealer, much less... but if you have the money, it is worth it for your little one.

I wasted time and money on other breast pumps! I bought a manual pump (Lanoish), worked fine, but too time consuming and didn't pump much milk for me. Then family member bought me the Medela Swing, worked better than the manual pump, but still took forever. I have love milk production. I was getting so frustrated because I wanted to provide my baby with breast milk. I was going to rent the hospital pump, but then read reviews for Medela Pump in Style and thought I'd try it first. After a month of frustration with single pump, I was thrilled to pump "double" with the Pump in Style! It would take me almost a full day to just pump 2ozs with the Swing. When I tried the "Pump in Style" i got 3oz in 10 minutes!!!! I was so thrilled. It's very comfortable. I did NOT think that it was heavy at all. Great suction, feels comfortable. So happy when I received it! Now my little girl can have breast milk!
