Baby Products Reviews of Medela Pump in Style Advanced Breast Pump with Shoulder BagCustomer Review: Almost as good as a hospital grade pump Summary: 5 Stars
Before I purchased the Medela PISA I used the Medela Symphony 2.0, a hospital grade pump. I think that the PISA is almost as effective as the hospital grade pump. The only negatives are that it is a bit louder and a little rougher in how it pulls while activated. But it is not uncomfortable at all, just not as smooth as the Symphony 2.0.
The shoulder bag is very convenient and has plenty of storage for things like a pumping bra, cream, etc. I really like the cold storage compartment although I am still on maternity leave so I have not had to use it yet. I have not yet used the battery pack but it can be a bit of a challenge to pull it out and insert the batteries. It is also extremely difficult to remove the motor from the bag if you need to for some reason.
I currently pump 3x a day but plan on pumping quite a bit more when I return to work. I have not noticed a drop off in production compared to the hospital grade pump. If you plan on pumping frequently or exclusively and don't want to pay for a monthly hospital grade rental then I recommend this model.
Customer Review: The "Breast" Pump Ever!! Summary: 5 Stars
I knew I wanted to breastfeed from the moment I got pregnant. But I also knew that I would be working and I would need a breast pump to express milk when Willow was unable to nurse because I was at work. But, since Willow never latched on, I was glad that I had spent the money and bought what I feel is the best breast pump out there, the Medela Pump In Style Breast Pump.
The great thing about this breast pump is that it has two nozzles so you can express from both breasts at once, if you care to. It has a variable control so you can decide how much suction you would like to have. When I first started, I went with what it felt like when Willow tried to nurse and then as I used it, I was able to up the suction until I had it maxed out. And let me tell you. I know everyone is different, but when I really got into the pumping groove, I pumped an ounce a minute.
I just can't say enough good things about this pump. It's easy to use and has a handy shoulder bag to carry it in and comes with a freezer pack to store the milk. Everything a pumping mom needs!
Customer Review: Better than Original Pump in Style Summary: 4 Stars
I am FAR more impressed with this model. 3 years ago I had the Original Pump in Style and had HUGE problems with it from the 1st time I tried to use it.
My first night home with the baby he woke up screaming every hour b/c my milk hadn't come in (4 days after birth). After 2 more days of trying to pump I was getting MAYBE .25 ounces out of each breast even though they were engorged. Clearly, it seemed like a product defect. After time, my milk came in better but the product always took a while to get my milk. I compared to other friends with the same model and I was ALWAYS getting much less milk than they. The manufacturer said it was a user problem and wouldn't replace.
Now with the Pump In Style Advanced, from day 1 I was getting 2 ounces. The let down mode is great (not on the original model) and gets my milk moving quickly. from start to finish, pumping both breasts at once, I only need to spend 10-12 minutes pumping. This model is far superior to the other one!
Thanks, Medela, for making a better product!
Customer Review: Best breastpump-must have for all working women Summary: 5 Stars
This product is amazing. I breast feed my baby full time and dont use any supplement like similac. I have to return to work within few days and was looking for an effective breast pump that would take less time, comfortable to use and light weight. I was recommended to use this product at the breastfeeding class and so boldly bought this item. This pump has almost the same power like symphony that i tried at the hospital. Very easy to fit accessories and the motor is very similar to the symphony and therefore the suction is stronger. You can adjust the strength of the sucks and I always use the medium strength by turning the knob clockwise. Also the accessories can be cleaned beautifully in no time. The bag looks stylish and is so light weight to carry. The bottles are in very good quality and I use them to freeze the milk. This is a must have for each breastfeeding mom. I have ordered a bra that would make this pump handsfree and so I can hold a book or do house work. you will never regret for having bought this product. all the best.
Customer Review: A real time saver Summary: 5 Stars
I am leaving this review on behalf of my wife. She started off with the Medela Swing Breast Pump which did the job. The only problem was she found it was taking 30-45 minutes to do what she needed and then get back to work. She made the decision to purchase this pump and it has made a huge difference. Pumping now typically takes her 10-15 minutes and she can get on with whatever she needs too. She has also run it on batteries and it really does a great job. (She uses and recommends either the Yuasa 4-Pack of AA Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries (2700mAh) or Powerex AA 2700mAh NiMH Rechargeable Batteries w/holder- 4 Batteries Per Pack) All the included accessories are also of great quality an work with the Dr. Scholls bottles.
