Customer Review: The Dual-Phase Expression is Wonderful...
Summary: 4 Stars

After having to request a replacement of this pump after only three months of use, I really wanted to hate it, so I tried an Ameda Purely Yours and could not use it at all. I felt that I needed the dual-phase expression of the Medela Pump-in-style, as it perfectly mimics my baby's nursing pattern. The Ameda seemed far too slow and unnatural. So, back to Medela I went.

I have been using my PIS for the past six months for my six-month-old daughter. During the maternity leave, I pumped just once a day or so, and when I returned to work after three months,I began pumping twice a day...Monday through Friday.

I have found the PIS to extract just as much milk as the Medela Symphony I rented for a week from my hospital after the baby's birth.

I also have to say that Medela customer service is wonderful and personal. I sent them an email after my first pump broke down and told them that the phone wait was a bit too long for customer service (they had been experiencing high volume at the time), and could I possibly resolve the matter via email. I got a personal phone call shortly thereafter, received wonderful service and my new pump was shipped out that same day for me to receive the next day.

I am sold on Medela, and I am certain I will be using Medela pumps for any future babies. I am just hooked on the dual-phase expression.

Customer Review: Almost perfect pump
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this breast pump after a mother of 3 recommended buying a medela pump and after buying the manual medela harmony pump. I did my research and decided this was the pump that would suit my needs. I decided to quit nursing but wanted to give my daughter breastmilk. I was also going to be returning to work and needed to pump for when I am gone.

Pros:
After figuring out how to pump properly, I started getting more milk. It has a suction control which helps when I am sore and need a lower setting. It also has a 2 minute letdown which automatically switches to regular pumping. You can also push the button to go back and forth between regular and letdown mode. I like that I can pump one breast at a time or double pump. I liked all the accessories the package came with such as sample nipple cream, breast pads, and bottles. The pump also fits standard bottles. It's easy to clean after each session and has less pieces per breast than the Harmony.

Cons:
It's quite heavy and sometimes a pain to move from the regular spot that I keep it. The bottles did not come with rings so I have to use the rings from other bottles to use the bottle to feed my daughter. The nipple shields were not the correct size and I had to buy a different size.

Customer Review: Expected it to be great, and it's even better

I don't actually care about how the pump looks, but if you DO care, it is in a really classy looking bag and looks like a purse or shoulder bag. I really like it.

As for the PUMP itself, I LOVE IT!! I have twins and so I do a lot of pumping. It has this function where it starts out with fast, light sucks, and then after about a minute it switches over to longer, deeper sucks. This combo eliminates any pain that is caused from pumping. The quicker, light sucks at the beginning kind of soften up your breasts to prepare for the deeper, longer sucks. It is so comfortable, I hardly feel a thing. It's about as noisy as every other pump I've used. My twins actually like the rhythmic whirring sounds.

The only thing I would mention is that I tried using the Medela (don't know what they're called, but the little cone/breast shield thing that you put on your breasts for the breast to pump...) I didn't like the Medela ones that I tried with my sister-in-laws pump. It was a lot harsher on my nipples and this pump came with the same ones. So I use the ones that I got in the hospital - they're Ameda brand and I like them a lot better. (So Medela pump, Ameda tubing/breast flanges things works best for me. No pain).

Customer Review: Must Have for any New Mom
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this pump when I realized my single electric pump just wasn't cutting it. After only a few days of using this pump, I don't know how I lived without it. I have been using it for quite some time now, and I love it more than ever. I did have to buy a different size of breast-shields but that's okay! Must have for all working mothers!

Pros:
Very easy to use
Comes with almost everything you need
Very attractive bag (doesn't even look like a pump)
Cooler/Ice pack are very useful
Works as a single or double pump
Comes with a battery pack that can be used when an outlet is not available
Easy to clean
Built well

Cons:
Pricey (Worth every penny if you can afford it)
The bag is slightly small if you are trying to use it to contain all the pump supplies and also use as a purse.
You must use the bag as it is basically attached to the pump.
Additional breast-shields may be necessary
Battery pack takes 8 AA batteries and eats through them quickly

Note: You can purchase additional supplies (such as the breast-shields) so that you don't have to wash them before each use...this was very helpful to me.

Customer Review: Awesome!!

I am a second time exclusivly breast feeding mother. My sons are almost 4 yrs old and 8 months old. I have faced numerous challenges in breast feeding all of which can be overcome. With my older son I rented the hospital pump. And he nursed for over two years so I figured it would be cheaper to purchace a pump this time. I tried a less expensive brand first and it did not cut it. This pump could only be better if it produced the milk for you! LOL! It really is a wonderful pump. I also bought a hands free bustier and I can fold laundry or check email or read to my boys while I pump. I have even made dinner and feed my baby solids while pumping. With the right tools all things are possible lol! Yes it is expensive but I learned the hard way when purchasing a breast pump being cost efficient is not the best choice. I had a different pump before this and it worked horribly. I thought there was something wrong with my supply but it wa only the pump. A small tip for new to breas feeding moms... Most of let down twice (on each breast if you nurse on both sides during each feeding) during a feeding and also during a pumping session. I have found the first let down produces less than my second. Good luck!
