Baby Products Reviews of Medela Pump & Save Breastmilk Bags - 50 packCustomer Review: Nice idea in theory Summary: 1 Stars
These bags are a nice idea in theory but have many flaws:
1) The measurement is only approximate, which if you're a pumping mom, is annoying.
2) The zipper-closure is AWFUL. I hurt my fingers nearly every time I try to close each bag and it is nearly impossible to squeeze the extra air out of the bag before closing. Even when closed all the way, milk can still leak most of the time.
3) The bags are difficult to get on and off the adapter. It takes twisting and turning just the right way and the first time I tried, I broke a bag.
4) They are FAR too expensive to be this problematic.
Do yourself a favor and just stick to the Lansinoh bags...they are the best.
Customer Review: Best breastmilk bags out there Summary: 5 Stars
I think I've tried all (at least most) breast milk bags, and these are worth the extra money -- my favorites. They are easy to pump directly into. For comparison, the First Years bags are flimsy plastic (one actually ripped); the Lansinoh bags are nice material but big and bulky (can't attach to pump mechanism). Lansinoh claims "can store flat," but so can the Medela bags. Lansinoh bags do hold more, but I don't find that to be an advantage (all I usually need is 5 oz at a time). I do like the double zipper on Lansinoh, but with the Medela, all you need to do is check the seal by squeezing milk upward. I've never had a problem with Medela Pump & Save and would recommend these above all.
Customer Review: OK, but not the best system Summary: 3 Stars
I pump a lot, and I've used all kinds of bags.
I like the fact that you can pump directly into these bag, but the system is not very robust. The tape does hold the bottle in place, but you have to be extra careful because the bag is practically open and you there's always the risk of pouring precious milk out of the bag if you move it too quickly.
Another thing I don't like about these bags is that you can't very easily write on the bag (date, milk amount, etc).
I prefer the old style "tie" bags, but if you are looking for the best bag try the Lansinoh bags, they are much better that Medela's, but you can't pump directly into them!
Customer Review: Not worth the money Summary: 1 Stars
As many others have stated these are great in theory, but poorly executed. The plastic of the bag itself is very stiff and tears easily. The seal is awful. Hard to close and leaks. This is especially frustrating when you are trying to use this for convenience at work or to transport milk elsewhere. I haven't even bothered to try and freeze milk in the bags because I was too worried about the bag tipping and leaking all over the freezer. The lansanoh bags are much better. I have even taken the tabs off the medela bags to use on the lansanoh bags. Don't waste your money on these bags. It ends up costing you more in time and lost milk! Plus the Lansanoh bags are cheaper!
Customer Review: don't bother. Summary: 1 Stars
I put this on my baby registry and recieved a box as part of a gift. This is my first experience with any Medela product. The plastic used for these bags is stiff and the measurements are off. Not to mention the bags only hold 5 ozs. Since the plastic is so stiff, I have torn through several, right down to the seal, rendering them useless. Thank goodness I didn't purchase these because I would have been highly upset. I considered giving the remainder of the box to a friend of mine, but I would not wish these bags on anyone! Awesome idea in theory but Medela has a long way to go in order to get this concept working correctly. Save your sanity and buy anything else!
