Customer Review: lost milk and milk volume measurement inaccurate

My milk leaks from these quite frequently. the zip lock is difficult to seal correctly for some reason. even if you cinch it tightly between your fingers and slide across to seal a few times, it feels sealed even when not. so they are kinda tricky. it would be nice if there was a color change when they are properly sealed, like some food storage bags.
The volume of pumped milk in the bag is actually less than what it looks like. I've noted this after pouring milk into several types of bottles including the medela bottles that came with the pump

I used these with my first child 5 years ago and bought them again when I had my second. It's a fantastic product, you can sterilize bottles or pacis or whatnot in just 90 seconds. It's great for when you don't have a full load in the dishwasher and don't want to run it, or if the dishwasher is full. I just wash everything by hand, then put them in these bags and sterilize them in the microwave. I have been putting Dr. Brown's bottles and parts in them with great results. Just wish they were bigger so they sterilize more bottles at one time.Customer Review: good for storage

These storage bags are great for freezing and storing breastmilk.
Good:
-Thicker so it doesn't tear (like some others)
-Never leaked
-Can stand upright
Bad:
-only holds 5 oz.
-the feature that allows you to pump directly into bag is akward and messy
-doesn't lay flat in the freezer
Overall, although there are downsides to this product I really appreciate its dependability. I know FOR SURE that these bags will hold up. Another brand that I have used was a crap shoot.

The hole at the top of the bag for the connector causes quite a bit of difficulty when you are trying to pour milk into or out of the bags. I've accidently spilled milk a few times which is very frustrating considering it is like liquid gold. Perhaps if Medela made this new style like the old where you could rip off the top and thus remove the portion where the holes are after you've pumped that would solve the problem? Overall I am hoping I can find a few boxes of the old style with the tape available somewhere.

In theory, these bags would have been great. However, I actually found that I didn't like them at all. I prefer the Lansinoh brand. The piece that connects the bag to the pump tears through the label area when you try to tear it off. And it holds less milk. This bag holds a maximum of 5 ounces, and is then REALLY difficult to close, whereas the Lansinoh brand holds 6 ounces and closes rather easily. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Medela pumps better than any other pump, but I would go with a different storage bag.
