Customer Review: Good with some drawbacks
Summary: 3 Stars

First the positives. As mentioned by another reviewer, this seat has high safety ratings, meeting both U.S. and European standards. It is nicely padded -- my son sleeps in it for hours with no complaints. It has a small footprint so it fits nicely into smaller cars. (This may explain why some users found their kids outgrew it quickly). It snaps right into the base easily and is a bit lighter than others that I have tried. On a more superficial note, this is a good looking carseat -- the fabrics come in very cheery color combinations and its styling is more sophisticated than most other carseat offerings. I personally appreciated the lack of funky prints and baby-ish patterns.

On the down side, this seat doesn't fit with several of the universal frames such as the Snap and Go. The only universal frame that I have been able to find to accommodate it is the Maclaren Easy Traveller which is a bit harder to find and a bit more expensive than its competitors. It also doesn't work with many of the adapters that are available with various strollers. So if you don't plan on buying a Quinny stroller, your options for a compatible frame or stroller will be limited.

Another drawback is that this seat lacks a notch that allows it to fit snugly on the seat area of a shopping cart. Most other seats marketed in the U.S. seem to have this. While you can still sit it on the top of the shopping cart, that notch would make it much more secure. I never even knew about this until after I starting bringing my little one to the supermarket and realized this deficiency.

Finally, I agree that the sunshade could provide more coverage, but I'm not sure how it compares to other car seats in this regard.

Overall, I'm still happy with the purchase, but if you want to use it as part of a travel system and not just as a car seat, be sure to check for compatibility. If you aren't buying a Quinny stroller, you may run into problems.

Customer Review: Great car seat
Summary: 5 Stars

We've been using this car seat for almost 9 months now, and I totally love it. The seat is easy to install both with and without the base. We keep the base in our car - the seat just drops in and clicks - and we've installed it with just the seat belt in the grandparents cars and it is firmly secure with just a lap belt. (It fits in our Toyota Prius just fine with the base - we've had it in a Honda CR-V and a Dodge minivan using seat belts.). The seat is well padded, and my daughter rides comfortably and will sleep for hours in it. Safety wise - well, it meets European standards as well as U.S., and is side-impact rated, so I feel confident that Allie is safe. We routinely carried the car seat to/from the car until our daughter was about 5 or 6 months old. It then got really heavy. (But I guess any car seat would...) The car seat now usually resides in the car, but getting our daughter in and out has been pretty easy, despite the seat being rear-facing. Others have complained that the shoulder straps don't adjust high enough for their baby, but we haven't yet had that problem. At 9 mos, she's at the top-most slots, but she still has a little room to grow.
We also purchased the Quinny Buzz as a travel system. My only complaint with this is that the stroller requires adaptors to take the car seat, and its an either/or situation - either you snap in the car seat OR you have the stroller seat, you can't have both which is a pain for us b/c we live in a tall apartment building and the garage is far away so we end up carrying the stroller seat with us if we want to use both. Otherwise the system works well.
Overall, we're very happy with the decision, and I'll probably be going with the Maxi-Cosi priori when its time to change up to a convertible seat.

Customer Review: Not enough shoulder strap slots!
Summary: 4 Stars

This seat was the only one other than a Graco infant seat that would snap into our stroller frame (Mutsy stroller). We loved the vivid orange and red/pink colors too. But, we have some major complaints. Our daughter is 5 months old, 15 1/2 lbs. and 26 inches. She is ready for another car seat already because this one doesn't fit her! Basically, the length is SUPPOSED to be good until 29" and it would if there were one more rung on the shoulder harness slots. But, when we brought her home at 21 1/2 inches long, we already had to adjust the harness to the second to last slot. I suppose we'll get another month out of this seat if all her height grows in her legs and not her torso. Otherwise, we'll need a convertible car seat very shortly. I DO NOT recommend this seat for people with long babies. Even the cheap graco seats have higher shoulder slots. (Each slot has about a quarter of an inch in between them so it doesn't take long to move up the rungs when the average baby grows two inches a month for the first six months!)

Also, the sunshade is too short. I'm forever riding in the back of the car holding my hands up to keep the sun out of my daughter's eyes, or putting a blanket hanging down over the edge for added shade.

Pros are that this seat is super cushioned unlike the graco seats and yet is still on par with those seats for price. Oh, and did I mention how stylish these seats are? I keep getting stopped in stores and asked where we got it. I would give it 5 stars if they could address the shoulder harness issues or if I had had a smaller baby!

Customer Review: Prefer the internationally sold model
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this to go with our Bugaboo Frog. We get lots of compliments, the color is very nice. It's very attractive and I believe it is safe, but here are my complaints:

- With the Bugaboo adapters, if you put the R and L in the wrong place...it jams and we have yet to be able to undo our mistake. As a result, our son is reclined with feet slightly higher than head. I'm not sure if this is bad or not, but it bothers us a bit. Another reviewer mentioned this, and it seems that he was able to correct his mistake, but I guess my husband and I don't have enough elbow grease!

- The retractable visor does not stay up to shield my son's face. It tends to slide back down like sloppy socks. Grr.

- The US version weighs 21 lbs and take baby up to 22 lbs, while the Japan version (where we live) weighs 7 lbs and takes baby up to 28 lbs! Why is that??

Other than that, my son finds it very comfy...and can sleep hours on end in it. I think if you own a Quinny - it's a fantastic product...a bit iffy if you are with Bugaboo.

Customer Review: Flying young
Summary: 5 Stars

I live in Michigan and needed a car seat to bring back my infant grandson from California. This car seat is one of the few, in fact the only one I could find, that is the correct width to fit into the airline seat without having to raise the armrest. In fact the label states it is FAA certified.
The LATCH system works great. Once installed correctly, that seat is not going anywhere.
Only two drawbacks to a perfect car seat. One is that the sun shade is too short. Easy to fix with a receiving blanket laid on the sun shield and carrying handle. The second problem is the weight. This sucker is heavy, and when you add 8 pounds of baby, expects longer arms. Long hike at Detroit Metro made this very obvious.
For the welfare of the baby, longer arms are not a problem.
