After our son out grew his Graco Snug Ride infant car seat. We started to research convertibles car seats. The Britax Marathon's name came up in every online forum as well as writing reviews giving this seat very high ratings.
We visited a local store in our area who carried the Britax Marathon as we wanted to see how it would fit our child. We were very pleased that the seat has a growth potential of up to 65 lbs and 49" in height. This calculates that on average a child can stay in this seat in a five point harness until the approximate age of a five year old.....reassuring.
As most seats on the market have five point harnesses that have a weight limit of 40lbs. The Marathon would allow us more long term growth instead of transitioning into a booster early on and bipassing the shoulder/lap belt combination.
We shopped online and found that babies r us had a large selection. However the more we researched we found the prices to be considerably lower and made our purchase from travelingtikes.com. They had a great selection as well but the same seat was offered at $219.99 shipping included.
Our seat arrived just a short four days later. The Britax's owners manual was easy to read and the seat installation with the LATCH system was simple to install. However I found it a little more difficult TETHER the seat in the rear facing postion. Once installed the seat was very secure and did not have any movement as compared to the our Graco infant seat.
Our son seemed to be so happy from the get go. The harnesess were easy to adjust and we liked the fact that there was excellent side wall protection. I especially liked how soft the fabric is to the skin and the belly pad that adds a little extra comfort to the legs from the belt buckle in case it may get hot from direct sun light.
We are very happy with our purchase and highly recommend this seat to all.

i bought this carseat for my daughter who is almost 8 months old and i am the person who searches and researches everything over and over again to make sure i'm saving the most money and getting the best for my money. i looked time and time again at carseats and read thousands of reviews i finally decided to go with this car seat. my daughter is to long for her infant carrier but only 16lbs. 4 oz. she is in the 95% in hieght though so it was hard to find a car seat that wouldn't bobble her around alot. this one as we were driving home, let her sleep so peacefully and she didn't have her head hanging in a funny or uncomfortable way. she didn't make one noise. she loved it. the one thing that made me decide on this one was that the other car seats that go up to 100lbs... they don't have the 5 point harness feature over 25lbs. you have to use you seatbelt in the car. that just doesn't seem as safe to me. the 5 point harness in this car seat is used the whole time up to 65lbs. i know this one doesn't have the flashy arm rests or cup holders but you can buy cup holder trays at the store for 12 dollars and buy the car seat for the safety. oh yeah and other car seat reviews say that thier car seat took a long time to put in, this literally took my husband less than 2 min. it's the best car seat out there trust me.Customer Review: Britax Marathon Best Value in its Class

With so many baby car seats to choose from out there its no wonder why it can become so confusing. Infant car seats, convertibles and boosters. 20lb's, 40lb's 65lb's Yikes! What's a mother to do?
I did my research and found that the Britax Marathon gave me more value and safety for my buck than any other car seat on the market. The Marathon is a Convertible Child Seat with LATCH that can be used rear facing for children 5 to 33 pounds and forward facing up to 65 pounds. The child's height should be between 18 and 49 inches. Not to mention that your little ones are secured by a five point harness that displaces the energy evenly across their precious little bodies. The Marathon with its patented lock-off, versa-tether and latch belt make this the easiest and most secure seat to install. Even though I was not thrilled about the color choices for my son online. I chose the Racer pattern and found the best price of $219.99 offered at travelingtikes online including shipping and I paid no sals tax. Do yourself's a favor and invest in your child's safety. I know that when I get behind the wheel of my car that I feel more confident now knowing that I have a Britax, than when we had our first infant car seat. Happy travels!

We just recently purchased this seat for our 18 month old son to replace the older Britax model that he already had. We've done quite a bit of research on this brand, and have been so impressed with it's quality and safety standards. As far as we are concerned, no other brand on the market even comes close! This seat is roomy and comfortable. The 5 point harness fits snuggly, so I know he's secure. I have read other reviews where people have had difficulty with the strap adjustment, however we have experienced none of this on either of our Britax seats (we also own the Boulevard). This seat installs quickly, easily, and securely with the LATCH system.
I will agree that this seat is large, bulky, and heavy, but it is designed to be able to seat a larger child up to 65 lbs. I will also agree that the price of this seat is a little bit steep, but it's a price tag that I'm willing to pay. When it comes to the safety of my son, cost isn't even a question.
In short, this seat is a dream. Not only do my husband and I love it, but our son does too. He rides quietly and comfortably. That alone makes this seat worth it's weight in gold!

I haven't bought one yet, I have looked and looked and can't make a firm choice just yet on which britax seat i want. Though I wanted to point out to the lady who replaced the carseat cause it was in a crash that even though its too late for her perhaps others will know that if your britax carseat is involved in an accident the company will personally replace the seat for no charge. Visit www.britaxusa.com for details but I tell you that this is what sold me mostly on the seat. They cost so much and even though its worth it for the safety of your child I don't want to have to cough up 300.00 for a new seat. I was in an accident with my 6wk old baby and she was fine but I had to replace the graco snugride, which hers came with the laurel ashely travel system (250.00) and couldn't be purchased seperate from the stroller. So now my daughter's seat doesn't match her stroller-I guess its not the end of the world but when you have to replace you want the exact of what you had. I was upset with Graco about this situation. I hope this has been helpful. From now on I will purchase all britax carseats for this reason alone.
