Baby Products Reviews of Lily Padz Reuseable Nursing PadsCustomer Review: LilyPadz Summary: 4 Stars
I love this product. They are very easy to use and maintain. Unlike disposble pads they don't bunch or move. They are great for wearing under clothes not only to prevent leaks but also to keep nipples from showing through, which has been a much larger problem since I started nursing. Due to some unforeseen family stress my supply has decreased so I haven't really had any issues with leaking so I can't honestly say how good they work for that, which is why I only rated four stars. I didn't feel I could give 5 when I couldn't truly say they stop leaks. I can say that when the baby is nursing on one breast I don't have problems with the other leaking when using the LilyPadz like I did in the past without them. Overall I would say the product is great and I would recommend them to any nursing mom.
Customer Review: Good option Summary: 3 Stars
The Lilypads are comfortable to use, but I don't think they're great for when your milk first comes in because your supply may be heavier at first and these can leak. Also, when your baby is tiny & feeding every 2-3 hours it can be a pain to wash them every time rather than throw away disposables. Doesn't show through a bra which is a plus over the lumpy disposables. You can wear these without a bra at night which is nice. I do wonder if these contributed to my breast infection early on though - they can keep the skin from breathing and I think these didn't help. They will last a long time if you maintain & clean them exactly like the company suggests. A good baby shower gift for a nursing mother - they pay for themselves quickly. For disposables I recommend the Lansinoh pads.
Customer Review: I really want to love these reusable nursing pads Summary: 3 Stars
I love the idea of Lily Padz nursing pads. They're reusable! Environmentally friendly! I won't have to keep buying those scratchy disposable nursing pads! I tried them out a few times and decided, unfortunately, that they're not for me, for two reasons. One, they were sticky enough that they kind of hurt when I would take them off, which wasn't great in the beginning when I was sore due to the newborn latch of death. Two, they made me sweat! When I would take the lily padz off, there would be a circle of sweat to wipe away. I didn't have to use nursing pads for very long, so switching to disposable pads for a month or so wasn't a huge sacrifice. I love the idea of these pads though and think that they're worth a try if you expect to need to wear nursing pads for a while.
Customer Review: Definite pros and cons. Not an everyday pad. Summary: 3 Stars
Perfect for occasional use for special situations such as wearing under a tight-fitting shirt (or one that shows any outline of your underclothes) or swimsuit. Keeps the nipples pushed down and you don't see a ring like with the cotton pads. Milk essentially gets trapped in the air bubble around the nipple, so it really stinks like spoiled milk when you peel them off. I felt bad for my baby having to smell that, so I would wipe off my nipple area before nursing. Unfortunately, the cat chewed one of the the pads and the dog chewed the other one, so I had to throw them away after less than a month's use. I plan to buy another pair for wearing with dressy clothes/swimsuits only and storing them in a very secure place away from the animals the rest of the time!
Customer Review: lily pads Summary: 2 Stars
I recently bought the lily pads because I was tired of using the pads, the lily pads do work and stop the flow of milk, however they make your brest swollen and painful because its like pluging a hole in a bucket with a cork... water wants to come out but can't so it presses against that cork hoping to push it out. 5hey make your breast much more swollen and hard and painful than just going a few hours in between nursing/pumping and just wearing a reg pad. .and if you are wearing them to bed and the pad catches somehing and breaks the seal between the lily pad and your breast, milk starts to pour out as if you were releaseing a dam. I found that out the hard way. I don't actually use them anymore, I just went back to my disposable pads and I'm much happier
