Baby Products Reviews of Lily Padz Reuseable Nursing Pads

Customer Review: Life saver for sore nipples
Summary: 5 Stars

I never write reviews but these were worth it. I wore these with our first child after a friend who's a pharmacist recommended them when I was desperately looking for relief from extremely sore nipples. Now I'm ordering 2 more pairs for baby #2.

My daughter wouldn't nurse so I pumped exclusively for 6 months. I was so sore after 2 weeks of pumping and having to wear disposable pads (because of heavy leaking) that I almost gave up. I tried the breast shield cup things which provided releif until I leaned over and milk that had leaked from the pressure of them spilled out of the top vent holes.

These were so comfortable and non-irritating. I still had to put disposable pads in "just in case" when I was still leaking heavily, but was even able to stop doing that eventually. FYI- Medela's disposable pads were not noticeable under clothing when you use a lined bra.

Customer Review: Great product, but worth the money?
Summary: 4 Stars

The first few days I wore the Lilypadz I LOVED them. As other reviewers have said, you can't see them through tighter fitting shirts and it makes it possible to sleep without a bra.

The product says they will work for about 2 months, but only guaranteed if you use the Lilywash. After maybe 3 weeks of washing them once a day with normal handsoap, they were almost completely useless. I ordered the Lilywash at that point, but it hasn't made a difference. $20 for a month's use of nursing pads is a little too expensive for me--especially when you can buy a box of disposable nursing pads for $5-$10.

I loved the product, but I wish they would have lasted longer. I did have a lot of problems with the milk pooling around my nipple, so maybe I should have washed them more to maintain stickiness...if I buy them again I will give that a try.

Customer Review: Not great for the buxsom
Summary: 2 Stars

These worked well- for about 2 hours. Then I started leaking out of them. At first I thought it was because I was still in the initial stages of nursing (about 6 weeks), and my supply had not regulated yet. So I put them away and waiting until my son was nearly 3 months, well after my supply had regulated. At night, I still leak a ton of milk out of them, so the whole "sleep braless" claim on the box is bogus. Even during the day, if my son goes more than 3 hours without nursing, I leak out of them. I think the problem is their size. When it comes to breasts, one size does NOT fit all. These are simply not large enough for my (naturally) 38DDD nursing breasts. They do not even cover the entire areola, so they pull off and move around. I don't know if this is the case in smaller-chested women, but for me they were a waste of hard-earned $[...].

Customer Review: Nice alternative, but loses it's stickiness
Summary: 4 Stars

I have 4 children and I nursed all 4. I just got LilyPadz after the last baby. I like them because you can't see them when you are wearing white or another light colored shirt. Also, they are flat against your skin so you can't tell you have nursing pads on. I also liked using them when I got in the pool and when I had a massage because they suctioned to me.
The downside is that they do lose their stickiness after a little while. You HAVE to wash them daily or they will not stick and have a bad smell. Luckily, I don't have to wear nursing pads for long since I don't have a problem with leaking. So, they are great for a short term. You would definitely need multiple pairs depending on how long you nursed.
Overall, I would purchase them again, because they are the best alternative to traditional nursing pads.

Customer Review: Great item for nursing moms!
Summary: 4 Stars

I must say that I don't have a big problem with leaking anyway but these have been a lifesaver in the first few months of my last two pregnancies. I hate to wear the disposable or cloth nursing pads and they are so unsightly.

These work well to contain leakage if you apply them properly and can have a life even beyond nursing. (I still wear them in tanks with built in bras or with strapless dresses.)

I only wish that the tackiness lasted a little longer and they can be a little tricky to reapply if you are nursing in a very public place. (Try a bebe au lait nursing cover for more privacy!) But they are really more convenient than other options and in my opinion worth the money.

I give them as presents to my nursing friends and haven't heard anything but raves yet.
