Baby Products Reviews of Lily Padz Reuseable Nursing Pads

Customer Review: 5 stars for concept. 1/2 star for product
Summary: 1 Stars

First of all, this is the first product review I've ever written, but after paying $22 for this product and then using it with no success, I was compelled to share my experience. I was extremely excited to learn about this product, while shopping at the Motherhood store. I went home that night, told my husband about them and then happily put them on that night. When it came time to nurse my 5 week old baby girl, I got up and noticed the pads were still in place and not a drop of milk to be found. However, while nursing, I noticed that the baby was wet and so was I. Turns out, the side I wasn't using had leaked, right through the pad. The entire left side of my shirt was soaked. I figured it must have been operator error, so I washed them that night and tried them again, the next day. I got up when it was time to nurse and noticed pools of milk had formed in both pads. Again, very disappointing, especially since I spent 22 bucks on them. Who knows, they may work well for you, but unlike many with bigger boobs who have complained, I'm a smaller, 36C and they still didn't work.

Customer Review: Why didn't I buy these sooner?!
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm breastfeeding my 7th child and have always had issues with leaking. My son is 2 1/2 months old and I have an oversupply that leads to some embarrassing leakage issues. Cotton pads are bulky and actually get very costly when you use them as often as I do. I had contemplated buying these for a while. Why I waited so long to order them and give them a shot is a mystery. They live up to their promise. As a breastfeeding veteran, I have never had a breastfeeding related product live up to it's promise from the get go like these have.
As for leakage issues, I have not had any so far with these. My little guy will cluster feed then go a good six hour stretch through the night and not nurse, and I have yet to have any issues with milk spilling out the sides. THey stay in place, even without a bra. I will say the first few times I used them, they actually triggered the let down reflex which was an unexpected response, but after a couple days my body just kind of got the signal that my little guy wasn't trying to nurse and the letdown response stopped.

Customer Review: Won't stop a strong let-down, but handy for certain times.
Summary: 4 Stars

I used these to stop the let down from my opposite breast while feeding my son. They worked pretty well, however some milk did accumulate around the nipple and therefore the pad needed to be removed (carefully as not to spill the accumulated milk) and cleaned after each feeding. Still, it was a nice break from wearing a bra 24/7, and a good hands-free alternative to holding a towel on your breast while breast feeding. I used them at night when it was easy to clean up and replace after the feeding. They are also handy for wearing under a bathing suit. However, the one time I wore them out under my bra, I experienced a spontaneous let down reflex as it approached feeding time and there was a massive leak. Wouldn't risk that again. I would recommend this product for use at home, or maybe for women with mild leaking, not for a strong let-down reflex. Unfortunately I can't use mine any more because my dog ate them. Keep away from pets!

Customer Review: Liberating, BUT BEWARE of milk buildup and leaks!!
Summary: 3 Stars

I loved the idea of this product, having worn a bra to bed for the past 3+ months now, which I dislike doing. It's a neat concept and they are very comfortable and allow one to go bra-less, but I was skeptical that the air pocket around the nipple would stop leaks. Sure enough, I've noticed on several occasions that milk pools in the pads, so watch out when removing the pads to nurse. And early this morning I woke up in a puddle! As one reviewer noted, they are fine for occasional use, particularly if you know you are unlikely to be leaking. But if you might be going awhile without nursing, like at night, be forewarned that the pads may catch the milk but won't stop it and if you are a side sleeper you are likely to wake up in a puddle.

I'll probably keep using these occasionally during the day, but they aren't the awesome replacement for absorbent pads and a bra at night that I was hoping them to be.

Customer Review: Not for the large breasted
Summary: 1 Stars

I was so excited to get a pair for nursing my third child. I told everyone about them. I'm a large chested woman (38E) and from the first use had issues. They weren't large enough to properly cover the area that is suppose to be covered. They pooled milk every time, no matter how snuggly I applied them. I woke up covered in milk whenever I wore them to bed. I had children that slept through the night early so it's not for those not nursing during the night. I also got thrush. That was horrible. I went back to using the cotton pads and found one thin enough to not be seen when wearing thin or snug shirts. I am currently nursing my fifth child and bought a comfy (barely notice I'm wearing it) night-time nursing bra. I love not having to worry about catching milk from my pad every time I go to nurse and not having to worry about the pad popping off. I would only recommend this to someone that has a C cup or smaller.
