Baby Products Reviews of Lilly Gold Sit 'n Stroll 5-in-1 Combination Car Seat/StrollerCustomer Review: Not good for newborns Summary: 2 Stars
My husband and I bought this car seat before our son was born. He is now 3 months old and we're looking for another car seat. The problem is that the angle is too steep for a young baby. My son's head falls forward until his chin is resting on his chest, and his head bobs whenever the car goes over a small bump. The head support pillow only forces his head further forward.
We've tried putting towels and foam pads under the seat, to make it recline back further, but this makes the seat less stable. We hoped that once our son was a little older, he could hold his head up, but I think that in an accident, he would end up with a neck injury from his head jerking around.
I've finally decided to simply buy a different seat, and I've found that most seats have a gentler angle and many allow you to adjust how far back the seat tilts. Also, many car seats allow you to adjust how high the shoulder straps go. The Sit N Stroll does not have adjustable shoulder straps. At three months, they already dig into my son's neck.
On the other hand, the Sit N Stroll does convert very easily into a stroller, and it's well-padded and more compact than many other seats. Unfortunately, I just don't think it's safe for a younger infant. I hope to give it another try when my son is 9 or 10 months old.
Customer Review: Great for travel. Easy to use. Summary: 4 Stars
This seat was the best purchase I have made for my son. We travelled to Hawaii and were dreading having to lug a carseat and sroller through the airport. I found this online and WOW am I glad I did. The stroller practically steers itself. There have been some complaints about the handle being flimsy, but it wiggles so you can steer it with one hand. I got a lot of jealous looks from other parents who were checking their strollers when I locked the wheels up and carried my son on the plane. It did not fit down the aisle (767 on Hawaiian), but no big deal. I have also read someone's review about it being for shorter people. I am 6'1" and my husband is 6'4". Neither one of us had a problem pusing it. THe handle has 3 different levels, maybe they just didn't keep the handle release pushed until it was fully extended. I wasn't completely thrilled with the strap placement in the carseat, but that is a small price to pay for the convenience. My son fell asleep in it and never even flinched when I took the seat out of the car and engaged the wheels. As long as you hear the click, the wheels are locked. The complaints I have read seem to be more from user error than product. THe only thing I would change would be the anchor system in the car. In a nutshell, I would give an absolute YES for travel, a no for every day use.
Customer Review: 1 star for Triple Play Products 5 stars for Sit n Stroll Summary: 5 Stars
Triple Play Products are a joke of a company. They have no customer support, for example I needed to get a handle for my sit n stroll, it took 3 weeks of me calling nonstop for them to get aggravated enough to send me one. They also left a voice mail saying I was swearing and harassing them. First I never swear when talking to any kind of customer service even if it is a voice mail every time you call for three weeks straight. Second if by harassment they mean the first ten days that I called I was nice and the last 11 days I called I told them that their customer service is nonexistent and a joke and that the company had no business ethics what so ever, then guilty as charged. I also got in touch with Strolex the actual maker of the sit n stroll and tried to get parts thru them they gave me the Triple Play Products phone number. When I explained my problem with Triple Play to Strolex they didn't seem to be shocked, and even said other people have had the same problem with them. The product is great you can get one at [...]with the mesh bag and the sun cover and shipping. Great product I just hope you never have to replace parts, and if you do need to get parts plan on waiting 3 weeks for a response, and to be called a harassing customer because Triple Play Products has no clue what business ethics are.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
I received this as a gift from my sister who saw someone use it and thought "How convenient!". It isn't. I used the regular infant car seat since my baby was born prematurely and this product was too large. The first time I used it was when going on a trip to Texas. Although we didn't have to take a stroller AND a car seat, it was too bulky when wheeling through museums and streets. It just didn't stroll that well. Secondly putting my 8 month old baby back in the car while seated, about 30lb, took a toll on my back. From then on, I'd have to take my baby out, place her in front seat, take the car seat out, convert it into a stroller, then take the baby from the front seat (if she hasn't fallen from it already and crying), then strap her to the stroller. Doesn't that take away from the advertised convenience? Now I only use it as a car seat and even as a solo functioning item, it's horrible. I have to use the 5 point strap AND the car buckle every time. If you have time to see their manual, please flip to the illustration of a buckled up kid. She/he cannot move arms when in front-view position. Since my baby is only 1, the car belt comes to her neckline. I can't believe this passed the safety standard.
Customer Review: What can I love it Summary: 5 Stars
I had originally purchase one of these great seats for a trip with our then 1.5 year old, about a year ago. I intended to use it for air travel and a short term 5 point stroller. (I was expecting at the time and was going to be buying a tandem stroller soon.) It has turned into her everyday carseat and stroller. We love this thing.
Although the first month or so I did have brusies on my arm from converting it, I have since gotten the hang of it and is no longer a problem. It is much lighter then her other convertable seat. So much so I was still able at 39 weeks pregnant to convert it with her in it(daughter was about 26lbs at the time)! It just makes travel much easier. As our second child is quickly out growing the infant carrier, I have even contacted the company to see if there is anyway of attaching 2 of these for use as a double stroller. They replied with they are working on it and hope to have something out in the next year or so.
As not to go on and on, all I have to say is if you want to make getting around with baby simpler, whether around town or the world, buy one of these seats. It will be the best investment you make in baby gear. I just wish I had bought mine sooner.
