Customer Review: Didn't work well for a smaller (5' 2") woman

I really wanted this pillow to work, as the concept is great. Since I've been pregnant (I'm 17 weeks), I've been sleeping on my left side a lot, but my right arm has been falling asleep. So I liked that the pillow curved and had a section for your arm to rest on, as well as a section to put in between your legs to keep your hips aligned.
However, this pillow ultimately didn't work for a variety of reasons:
- The pillow itself was too thick for me to use under my head. I like a firmer pillow, which this definitely is, but it was just too thick for me to find comfortable. I'd start the night off thinking it could work, but would invariably extricate myself out of it and throw it on the floor just an hour later, if I even lasted that long
- When you put it behind you to cradle you and use the curved part under your head, the edge of the pillow eats into your shoulder. This was very uncomfortable, and I was never able to relieve this pain entirely.
- Couldn't find comfort using this pillow other than cradling it. I sleep on the right side of the bed now, which is closer to the bathroom. Sleeping on my left side (on the right side of the bed), the only way I could use the pillow comfortably was to position it entirely in front of my body. This didn't work well since it is so large - the pillow was always hanging off the side of the bed in some capacity.
- Sleeping with it makes me hot! And summer is right around the corner...
I'm not sure what type of pillow I will try next, but this one is getting returned.

I started using this pillow when I was 16 weeks along with twins. After a week of sleepless nights suffering from back pain, and being unable to train myself to not roll over on to my back sometime during the night, this pillow came as a welcome relief. I can't say it fixed all of my sleeping problems, but I can say it keeps me in the same, comfortable position all night and provides sufficient back support. It's easy to adjust if you want to switch sides, and I can easily pop out of it for multiple bathroom breaks during the night and easily reposition myself when I return.
I noticed many reviews where people complained of being too small or too large for the Snoogle. I'm petite, 5'2", and I don't see why it would be difficult. The material in the pillow is comfortable and easily compressible, and the snake-like design allows you to wrap the pillow around you and adjust to any length.
My only (minor) complaints: sometimes the pillow will flatten in areas that get the most use. After using it for only 2 weeks, I have no problem fluffing it and getting it to immediately bounce back to fullness, but I can see that this flattening may become more of an issue over time. As many reviewers have said, the pillowcase material is not the most comfortable. I wish they offered a case with a higher thread count that you could purchase, because (of course) standard pillowcases don't work with this pillow. I use one regular pillowcase at the top of the Snoogle where I usually put my face to eliminate some of the scratchiness.

I LOVE MY SNOOGLE....and every expectant mother should invest in this pillow....I am so thankful my husband purchased it for me!I kept putting this purchase off thinking it's was just a pillow but in the 4th month of my pregnancy...and the trouble I was experiencing with sleeping on my side (after being a tummy sleeper for as long as I can remember) made sleeping unwelcome and uncomfortable. Since that first night with my snoogle, sleeping comfortably, especially in my 6th month, had become a need (well, in addition to the nightly trips to the bathroom)and a my Snoogle a Necessity!!! Since, I have been able to sleep on my side so comfortably that I cannot sleep without this thing! My husband's alittle jealous but he's coping. It does take a few days getting used to having it in bed as it is quite large, but it's fantastic. I also love that it keeps your body in alignment without raising your head too high. In fact, before my snoogle days, I used to wake up with neck and lower back pain and the snoogle has alleviated these discomforts! I feel great after "Snoogle Time" (my daily naps and bedtime) and highly recomment this product to all expectant mothers or not!!!
Some other reviews that I had read of women complaining that the pillow case is "scratchy" and difficult to remove and put back on. It does take some work to get the case back on, but it doesn't take more that one person nor a few minutes. As far as the scratchiness goes, the luxury of a good night's sleep is worth the low thread count......!

I've had this pillow for about a month, and I love it. I've gone a few nights without it (went out of town and pillow too big to bring along), and boy, did I feel the difference. It provides great support for the back and belly. My daughter loves it too. I plan to continue using it even after delivery. Absolutely recommend.
I've noticed another comment on the coarseness of the cover fabric. I think it may be a problem if your skin is really sensitive. Mine is not sensitive so I find the cover fabric to be just fine. But if yours is, then maybe you should check out other covers sold at Babies R Us. I am not sure about the texture variation, but I know that my local Babies R Us carry them in several different colors/designs. If you are having problems with your sleep or have back or belly discomfort, you should definitely give this pillow a try.
As for price, it is a little high compared to a regular pillow, but for a pregnancy pillow, I think it is not bad at all. I've tried the Bobby Total body pillow before this, and I can tell you, it costs just as much (or slightly more), and does not come with a cover. Also, it is not as nearly as comfortable or versatile as the Leachco Snoogle total body pillow. For me, it really comes down to either paying $5x for this one pillow, or $1x each for 5 standard pillows (which will probably cost just as much or more, will take up more room on the bed, and will require much re-arranging when shifting around during sleep).

I'm using this pillow for about a week now and here's what I noticed.
I'm at 27 weeks and my belly is not too big, but it still caused me a lot of trouble while sleeping. I had to spend about 10 minutes every night getting comfortable enough with all the pillows, and of course by the time I do (pretty much) I'd have to get up and go to the bathroom :)
I now use the Snoogle pillow along with only 2(!) extra pillows and it does help.
I'll skip the pros part as the other reviewers did a good job describing them. But here are the cons that could definetely be improved by the manufacturer:
1. The seam that goes all the way on the inside curve of the pillow is very stiff when the pillow is stretched around your body. This is very uncomfortable as I usually feel it either on my shoulder, neck or the chest depending on the position I take.
It is touching all those soft areas and feels almost like a cardboard across the skin.
2. The fabric of the pillow is kind of rough and it is not too pleasant for the skin of the face. I am thinking about sewing the case out of the softer fabric, but it could be a little complicated because of the odd shape and the length of the pillow.
3. The price. It has been mentioned before, that the pillow itself is very simple made, so I guess it's the idea that costs that much.
All these items could probably be improved by the manufacturer so the product really does make a perfect pregnancy product.
