Baby Products Reviews of Leachco Snoogle Total Body PillowCustomer Review: Great body design, but poor neck support. Summary: 4 Stars
I got this pillow on the recommendation of my prenatal masseuse, and I'm glad I did. It's not perfect (yet), but it's a huge improvement over my multiple-pillows and aching body.
The firm stuffing is great for supporting one's body, but the sacrifice is that it is consequently a bit too firm in the head area for me. The firm, rounded shape elevates my head but leaves my neck unsupported. I'm still experimenting with making this to my liking, by adding support under my neck, and I may try altering the stuffing. I'm a sewer, so one way or another, I will make the head perfect. ;) The last-resort scenario would be to turn it into a J-shaped pillow by lopping off the top altogether, and using my own head pillow again. (Which is one reason to consider the J shaped one to begin with.)
One thing that's decidedly nice about the top curved area, though, is that you can scoot up onto it for a really nice inclined support if you're feeling acid reflux or indigestion. (Then you need a head pillow.)
Another thing that's nice about these curved ends, is that this pillow can be used as a great Boppy post-partum: it's double-high on your lap when snaked around you, which my midwives say is actually a better height for many breastfeeding women than the usual Boppy height.
I also plan to use this pillow as a co-sleeping aid when the baby is here. I think it will make a good bumper/railing of sorts, placed under the sheet so as not to move or get on top of baby and smother. (I'm no safety expert! Please proceed with care if you try any of this, following safety guidelines recommended for co-sleeping.)
Customer Review: Amazing Sleep Aid Summary: 5 Stars
I received this body pillow as a present, and I am amazed at how it has changed my ability to sleep!
I am a slender 5'9", am 6 months along, and I sleep with the pillow wrapped around my back. I feel that I fit in it perfectly. Previous to trying this product, I would wake up constantly with back and leg pains. I have been using the pillow for a week now, and have finally been able to sleep through most of the night with only having to wake up a few times to switch sides.
I usually start out on my left side (which is recommended by my doctor and the tons o' baby books I have read thus far) with my back to the long portion. I have found that when I switch sides, it is fairly easy and comfortable to put my top (right) leg under the knee portion with my bottom (left) leg, turn so that I am facing the long body portion, put my left leg on top of the knee portion, and cuddle up again. I only mention this technique because it took me a few nights to figure out the easiest way to turn over during the night.
I also manipulate this pillow to prop me up against my headboard at night to read. The packaging comes with multiple ideas on how to contort the pillow for other uses besides sleeping. I've used a few of them, and they have all helped me to feel more comfortable.
I am telling you, I feel so much more rested during the day due to this pillow. My mother purchased this pillow for me after noticing that other body pillows had odd creases or other odd shapes to them. I couldn't be happier that she ignored the choice I had made on my registry (Boppy) and went with this pillow. It's marvelous!
Customer Review: Why didn't I buy this for my first pregnancy??? Summary: 5 Stars
Let me preface this by saying I make a lot of my purchases on Amazon based on customer feedback and this was no exception. So here are my two cents on the Snoogle in the hopes maybe it will help someone make a decision. I LOVE it. I'm 5'3" and currently 26 weeks pregnant and the snoogle fits me great. I honestly love getting into bed each night and snuggling next to my Snoogle. This is my second pregnancy and during my first I had a lot of problems with sleeping - couldn't get comfortable, snored, backaches, etc. I don't know what it is about the design of the Snoogle, but it just works much better than regular pillows do. I still use a regular pillow on the open end and sometimes I'll use a pillow on top of the Snoogle if I need some elevation for my head. At first I thought the Snoogle was a little too firm and either I've gotten used to it or it's softened a little. I also have to admit, when I got the Snoogle I didn't realize there was a cover on it. The pillow was a little rough so I went ahead and ordered a second cover (I think it was called "Sage"). Well, after I did that I realized that it already had a cover on it so I took it off and washed it and yes, it was a big pain to put back on. The second cover I ordered came with a zipper on the back and is a breeze to get on and off. I also think it's softer than the original cover even though they're made of the same material. The Snoogle is kind of big, but it's not as big as 3-4 pillows strategically placed on the bed and I think it actually leaves more room for my husband. So all in all, I would highly recommend the Snoogle to all the pregnant ladies out there.
Customer Review: Finally, a good night's sleep! Summary: 5 Stars
I typically have no trouble sleeping, but pregnancy really changed that! My husband bought me the Snoogle, and it changed my life! Finally, after months of discomfort and poor sleep, I was back to my old self!
The pillow is firm, but still soft enough to mold to your body. It provides just the right combination of comfort and support. It makes a difference no matter what configuration you use - you can face the pillow and have extra support under your belly, or you can wrap it up behind you for extra back support. Some reviewers complained about not being able to stretch out - I'm 5'8, and I have no trouble stretching myself out with the pillow between my legs, which really helps with the lower back pain I was experiencing before.
It's big, but you get used to it! I used to wake up a little as I rolled over, but now I sleep through the night and still change positions - my body has just gotten used to accommodating it (and I've owned it just under a month). My husband and I have a full-size bed, so bed size really isn't a factor - if you have a queen or king, you'll definitely have enough room!
One other great thing about this pillow - I now use it at my home office chair or on the couch when I need a little extra support. I roll it up in a spiral and put it behind me, and I leave a little of the end to wrap around my waist to support my belly. It's DIVINE! So if you're sitting for long periods of time (for work, or even just relaxation), this pillow can make a big difference!
I just can't say enough good things about it! I'd recommend it to anyone!
Customer Review: Great for pregnancy and beyond Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this pillow when I was 16 weeks pregnant because I was having a hard time getting comfortable at night. I loved it from day one and was always finding new ways to arrange it in order to get comfortable at night. I did not use it all the time but as my body changed throughout my pregnancy I would drag it back out and use it for as long as I needed it. There are an infinate number of positions you can use it in and I would encourage any user to experiment in order to get the support they need. I even took it to the hospital with me to use during the postpartum period. My husband loves it too and uses it any time that I don't.
One of the best (and most long lasting uses) is for breastfeeding. I keep it on the couch and simply wrap it around my waist on which ever side I am going to feed on. I have a Boppy and a Breast Friend but this seems to be my favorite nursing pillow because I dont have to put the baby down to get it into position. I simply grab a free end and wrap it around either the front of me or the back, depending on how I am sitting. My son is only 2 1/2 months old and weighs 16 lbs so having this pillow be so large and supportive is a huge plus. It's even great for his occasional bottle feedings and also for times when we are just relaxing in bed and I need somewhere to prop him up on. He seems so comfy when laying against it.
All in all, it was well worth the money it cost. You don't even have to invest in a pillow case for it if you dont want to because it comes with a removable, washable cover. I would def buy it again!
