Customer Review: SLEEP ON A CLOUD!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

Last week, we went to BRU and my husband got me the Snoogle as a special treat since I had been experiencing discomfort during the night. I am entering my eighth month and have always had hip problems because it was dislocated during birth and the extra weight (I am already fuller figured as it is) doesn't help. Every time I wake up in the middle of the night to pee, it takes me almost an hour to fall back to sleep because I just can't get comfortable (I have always been a "belly sleeper" and now my belly is too big to lie on).
At first I was surprised at how expensive this pillow was, but I guess you pay for the shape and its multiple uses. I personally don't think the material is "scratchy" or anything, but I guess it isn't equivalent to the 1000 count sheets that some of these ladies must be lying on. I didn't expect it to be, so I am not disappointed in the material. Perhaps some fabric softener?
The size of the pillow can be daunting, especially when you wake up in the middle of the night thinking your sleeping with a cushy boa constrictor. There have been a few nights where I have gotten frustrated and kicked it to the bottom of the bed because it almost seems like a third person is in bed with you. This may be due to the fact that my husband and I are both chubby, our bed is not exactly King Size and our dog tries to sneak on when he knows we're asleep, making it a bit crowded.
On a good night, I like the Snoogle because it keeps me on my left side (which is apparently the only way for a Pregger to sleep) when I would normally end up on my belly. It is easier to disengage from and return to the Snoogle than 10 pillows it took 20 minutes to begin with to arrange "just right" when it's 3am and you're half asleep. The best "Snoogle-sleep" I have gotten was last night, because I moved one of my two head pillows to the Snoogle curve in between my legs for added height. I don't know why or how, but I didn't even wake up once in the night to pee! In fact, I woke up 10 hours later drooling; the sleep was that restful!
Also, you might have trouble prying the Snoogle away if you have a Nip Nap husband like I do!!! He looks like he is sleeping on a cloud when I come home late from work. We refer to the pillow as "Snoogle" as if it were a friend and even use Snoogle as a verb like: "Were you snoogling?" or "It's my turn to Snoogle!" We anticipate that after the pregnancy, the baby will be able to use Snoogle like a Boppy to prop himself or the dog can sleep in it once it gets old and ratty. So, basically, the Snoogle is a pretty good investment, if you ask me!

Customer Review: Best Nights' Sleep & My Husband is Happy!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have just had the best nights' sleep that I've had in a L-O-N-G time. I thought I was sleeping fine though...until my husband brought this pillow home.

Background Info:
I'm a small framed person (pre-pregnancy 5' 2" & 110 lbs.).
I have an extremely bad back.
This is my 4th (and last) pregnancy.
At 12 ½ weeks I was placed on bed rest (just over a week ago now).

Fit:
This pillow fits me perfectly! The ends touch (for now) when I'm all curled up in it. It cradles my head & neck so well. It alleviates a lot of the discomfort that I've felt in my upper spine/neck areas. Also, if I pull my knees up in more of a "ball" position, the pillow cradles quite nicely across my lower back. It feels really nice. The fact that I have a pillow that stays put between my legs/knees at night also helps to alleviate my lower back aches.

Comfort:
This pillow puts my head at just the right height for proper spinal alignment. I have found it to be extremely comfortable to snuggle up in. It actually makes being on bedrest seem not so bad (comfort-wise anyways).
I would change the material cover though. It may get softer with washing, I'm not sure yet as I haven't let go of it longer than to take a quick shower or bathroom break. I solved this problem by simply putting one of my favorite king sized pillow cases over the end that my head is on. I would prefer to make/have a cover made for it that is a softer material, but if and until that happens (not by me anytime soon), the pillow case works fine.
Note to manufacturer: It would be great if there were additional covers premade that you could purchase for this pillow. That way you could use one and have the other in the wash. I like to change my pillow case at least every 2-3 days personally.

Price:
Yes, it's $50. However, my comfort (& my husbands' sanity) is worth any amount of $$$. Like I said before, this is my fourth pregnancy (and last). It's not as if I'll use this for another pregnancy, but for this pregnancy both my husband AND I will be comfortable. He won't have to listen to me complaining about how uncomfortable I am at night and I won't overwhelm him out of our king size bed with my abundance of pillows. (My last pregnancy I think I was up to 12 or 13.)

Customer Review: More positive than negative.
Summary: 4 Stars

Generally, most people's complaints about this product are that it is bulky and expensive. Both are indeed the biggest drawbacks. Other smaller, more minor drawbacks are the following:

1. Difficulty in replacing the provided pillowcase (it's a workout in itself).

2. Pillowcase is not from very expensive material (for the price, you would expect at least a 300 thread count) - you'll have to shave those little lint balls off at least once a month.

3. Difficulty maneuvering the Snoogle to either get out of bed (those frequent trips to the bathroom to pee) if it's on the edge, or switching from lying on your left side to your right.

Other than three listed above, the Snoogle really does make life easier for the preggo. After reading article after article that sleeping on your back was bad or at least discouraged for you and the baby, I needed something to cling to that would encourage me to sleep on my side. No easy feat for someone who's been sleeping on her back for the last 28 years. While the Snoogle will not completely eliminate your need to roll over altogether, I would say I sleep on my side about 90% now, as opposed to the 15% prior to using this product.

Your sleep co-inhabitor may indeed find it obtrusive, but my husband has learned to live with it - and in fact in the middle of the night I catch him sleeping on the end of the curve next to where my head is. He barely commented on the space it took up anyway because I put the Snoogle's spine on the very edge - an ideal spot to save space AND keep me from falling out of bed.

An added bonus too is the feeling of security it provides. I love just lying on my side hugging the Snoogle while I watch TV. Since it conforms to your entire torso and gives your legs something to hug, it's really nice to just relax into it.

I agree that the price, considering the material used, really does seem quite expensive (the manufacturers aren't the first or the last people who will take advantage of a pregnant woman's misery). However, when you weight it out against peace of mind (sleeping on your side), comfort, and future use (a couple of my friends who used this product went on to use it for their babies) then the price really doesn't seem so bad.

Customer Review: A good item, albeit overpriced and doesn't withstand use as well as it should
Summary: 4 Stars

This pillow has been great for the discomfort I've felt by the end of the day during pregnancy. I'm able to curl up and go to sleep comfortably, which makes me satisfied with my purchase. That being said, these are the downsides of the pillow:

1.) The stuffing flattens after a few months of regular use by an average-sized pregnant woman. The first few nights I used the pillow, it was very fluffy--almost to the point of discomfort. I wondered why some people said it flattened so quickly, but now, after a few months, I know. For the price and the claims the company makes, they would be wise to make something that holds its fluff longer. I have started adding another pillow between my knees to add bulk, which I didn't expect to need to do when initally purchasing this item. While I do enjoy this pillow and have appreciated the sleep I have gotten with it, I don't think it will last through multiple future pregnancies. My husband and I don't have $50 to shell out on a pillow for each pregnancy, so when this one wears out, I will not buy another.

2.) As others have mentioned, the cover that comes with the pillow is not of high quality. It's a bit of an off-white color, and it tends to attract fuzz and hair from other fabrics. When spending $50 on a pillow, I'd expect a nicer cover to be included. It is somewhat rough, so I usually put my regular head pillow on top of it (this also ties in with #1--with the flattening that has occurred with time, and my increasing heartburn, I need to elevate my head to make sleeping much more comfortable.) I have considered sewing my own cover for this pillow, but have not found the time to do so as of yet.

3.) We have a full size bed, and this pillow does take up a fair amount of space (this might not be a significant problem if your bed is a queen or king size.) If your husband or partner really likes to stretch out as he sleeps, you might not have a happy bedmate when using this pillow.

All in all, the pillow is fine, but overpriced, and could be made better by the company. If you are really sick of positioning 5-6 pillows around yourself to sleep, this will help minimize the "pillow arranging annoyance", but expect to still need to use a few extra pillows to make yourself really comfortable.

Customer Review: Better for non-sleeping uses
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased the Leachco Snoogle about a month ago during my second trimester of pregnancy. I was having a tough time sleeping, and needed additional support for my front side. As a former massage therapist, I knew the importance of proper sleep support (pregnant or not)! For the first few nights, I used the Snoogle and no additional pillows. I was quite pleased with the support, and it fit in our queen size bed with my husband and I (and large dog at the foot of the bed). My love at first sleep turned out to be a disappointment.

After the first few days, I noticed soreness in my neck and frequent tension headaches. I found that the Snoogle didn't quite give the full neck support that my body needed. Most of the stuffing in the Snoogle's curved top and bottom are along the outside of the curve. The inside curve (where the neck rests) doesn't have nearly as much support as the outside curve. I had to go back to using my special pillow (Tri Core brand, which I highly recommend for anyone) designed for ideal neck and head support. I have since been using the Snoogle in modified ways that are not indicated on the pictures. It is difficult to use my pillow and the Snoogle due to the curved top and bottom. The modified positions don't quite give the support to the front of my body as it does when used as instructed. I gave it a second chance without my pillow, but woke up again with soreness and a headache.

I was also not impressed with the fabric. I purchased one of their covers, which was much softer than the outer fabric that comes with the Snoogle. For the price, I would think the fabric would have had a higher thread count. I wish I had chosen a different full-body pillow.

Though this pillow has not been great for sleeping, I do plan to use it when the baby comes. It will be great for the similar use of a Boppy pillow, and will also be great for breastfeeding since it can be molded into different positions. It is also good for someone looking for a comfortable, supportive pillow to read or watch TV in bed. I can see how some people would love it for sleeping; it just didn't work well for me.

Though I use the Snoogle every night, I probably wouldn't buy it again. I would likely look for something that is designed for use with my own pillow.
