Baby Products Reviews of Leachco Snoogle Loop Contoured Fit Body Pillow, IvoryCustomer Review: A Real Back Saver! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this pillow when I was at 21 weeks. I had just started having a hint of back aches and my sciatic nerve was getting ramped up. I was looking for a solution and a friend suggested a pregnancy pillow. My husband thought it was a racket, naturally, but told me that if it made me feel better then we could get ten of them. I did a lot of research, read a lot of reviews, and decided to settle on this pillow. I like the deep C-shape of it. Having the open side at the back allows me to turn over with more ease than a pillow that would encircle me altogether. Also, I can get out of bed by flipping up one of the open arms for that middle of the night bathroom visit. For the record, I am 5'11" and if this pillow fits me, it would fit anybody. I have had no problem with it as far as maintaining it's shape goes. Sometimes I put an extra pillow on the head section, sometimes I don't, and that just depends on how I feel. I am three days shy of 26 weeks now and I still have no back aches and the sciatica even feels better (there's nothing to do about sciatica except give birth, by the way). My husband and I are fortunate enough to go on a cruise soon (doctor permitting). I will be 32 weeks along by then and we have already talked about the best way to get my pillow to Miami with us.
Customer Review: Makes you lose sleep! Summary: 1 Stars
This is the most awful, pregnant unfriendly pillow. DO NOT buy it. It is too thick and too firm. When I'm on my side, I can hardly get my arm around the pillow because of the thickness and then the firmness prevents you from squeezing it enough so your arm fits around it. The way it is designed, my head does not lay at the correct angle and it's uncomfortable. I've tested it out for three days and have not slept very much at all....it's been more of a nap than sleep. I slept better with just a regular pillow. Every day I wake up in so much pain---pain in my neck, arms and hips. I have to toss and turn to get comfortable. Then the thing is so big you cannot roll over it. Umm...I'm pregnant and I have to be able to roll out of bed, but it's quite difficult with this large pillow in the way. I would recommend that you look at these at the store where you can touch it and see the thickness before buying. And then make sure you buy another brand because even if this one seems nice and acceptable...it is not! Also, it only comes with a white cover...they do not make any other colors for this model. And it is very difficult to remove. And you cannot return it unless it is unopened. Great! keep that in mind.
Customer Review: Total Lifesaver Summary: 4 Stars
I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and all the symptoms I had when I was pregnant with #1 came on earlier and stronger. I started having sleep issues around 5 months but didn't buy this until I was 7 months. Why oh why did I wait??? This pillow has helped me with carpal tunnel (my hands have not gone numb since I started sleeping with it), lower back issues, and sore hips to mention a few of my ailments. Before I bought this pillow I was waking up every night but now, more often than not, I sleep through the night. Most of my discomforts have diminished or at the very least have become more manageable since buying this pillow. I can even sleep on my back if I prop myself up using a regular pillow along with the Snoogle. Downside to this pillow is that it takes up a lot of room and the fabric is not as soft as my pillow cases. So if you're sleeping with a partner space might get tight. My husband had already moved himself to the couch to give me space and to escape my restlessness. I definitely recommend this pillow to pregnant women who are experiencing discomfort while sleeping. Hopefully the effects of the pillow will last through the rest of my pregnancy.
Customer Review: Nearly perfect full-body pregnancy pillow Summary: 4 Stars
Overall, this is a great pillow and I highly recommend it.
Gives support from head to toe (I'm 5'5" and sleep with knees slightly bent; my top foot stays elevated with this pillow) -- most others on the market are too short to do that. Provides back support, and prevents me from rolling on my back when I sleep (which was a big concern). It's a little firm - but you're sleeping on your side, so you want your neck supported. The c-shape also makes it easier to get in/out of bed than if it didn't have the opening in the middle (ie, I don't have to climb over it). It's not even as big as I'd expected - in fact, my hubby and dogs still fit comfortably with me in our king-sized bed, with room to spare.
Two minor drawbacks were already mentioned in other reviews - both have to do with the cover. First, the fabric is a little scratchy (feels like a cotton/poly blend). Second, the inside seams are pulled too tight, so you have to adjust sleeping positions (in order not to have it dig into your neck). I'll probably just end up making myself a new slipcover with softer fabric, and adjusting the seams to allow a little more give/room.
Customer Review: I can sleep again! Summary: 5 Stars
This pillow is a saving grace. I was getting up and down and lying awake and in the mornings I had terrible back pain. I got this pillow only about a week ago and I have slept through each night with it successfully and had no pain in the mornings! Some people complain about the shoulder area being very sharp or too tight. I can see how this could be annoying for them, because it can be very sharp in your neck or shoulder if you sleep very high up on pillows or possibly are very tall (I'm 5'4"). However, I naturally sleep a bit crooked so I can easily curl the top curve out a bit and sleep at an angle and I honestly have never been bothered by the tightly sewn area. While I do not agree that the pillow case is uncomfortable, my only complaint is that it is very difficult to get back on after you wash it, as it shrinks, even in a mild wash/dry, and they don't sell nice replacement covers for it. It is an easy fix though, I used an old sheet to make a new pillow case and haven't had any other issues. I highly recommend this for the pregnant woman that has to use a bunch of pillows to even get comfortable, this is an amazing alternative!
