Baby Products Reviews of Leachco Safer Bather Infant Bath Pad, Blue FishCustomer Review: Don't buy this contraption Summary: 1 Stars
I received the Safer Bather as a shower gift 3 years ago. I picked the item for my registry because of the great reviews I read on this site. Two babies and countless baths later, I still do not understand or like this bather. I even contemplated throwing it out while cleaning out a closet last week.
*My babies did not like laying on the Safer Bather. They squirmed and twisted even at an early age.
*I did not feel like my babies were safe in the Safer Bather.
*The only time I was comfortable using the Safer Bather was when I was in the bathtub with my baby. Not very convenient.
*The Safer Bather does not come with any instructions or suggestions for use.
*It is very difficult to put water in the tub, put the Safer Bather in the tub, the baby on top of the Safer Bather and then wash the baby.
I had much better luck with my Safety First Baby Bathtub and I used it in my kitchen (much easier on my back). I kept one hand on my baby and another on the washcloth! Very simple and easy.
Customer Review: Am I the only one with this problem?? Summary: 2 Stars
I got this bathtub all excited from the reviews....I used it the first couple days of my sons life, and I did enjoy the cushiness of the tub and it was very easy to sponge bath him in it. However, one day it was time for a real bath, and I placed him in it, bare bum and all....and he took a number 2 right in the tub! This was the messiest thing EVER. I couldn't clean it all off becase it soaked in, it was so gross. Plus he also has a habit of peeing in the tub as well. Unless you baby is super otty trained from birth, they will do it too. I immediatly threw it in the closet and got out the plastic tub my sis bought for me from a yard sale for 75 cents. I've been using it ever since. Throwing it in the washer is not an option when you go to a laundramat....plus...YUK! No easy cleanup. How are you supposed to clean baby with a gross tub? I wondered if the designers for this product ever had a baby when this happened....
If you want cusiness, but a platic tub and put down a fluffy towel. You'll get the same effect and it's easier to clean.
Customer Review: One of my favorite purchases Summary: 4 Stars
I've been very happy with this bather. We used it his first day home as a comfortable cushion to sponge bathe on. Then for several months I used it in the sink and never worried that he would suddenly slip and bang his head. He was always happy and comfortable. I did have to switch to a conventional baby tub for a few months when he had outgrown the sink before I was ready to put him in the big tub. Now that he's sitting up, we've moved into the tub, and we're back to using the safer bather for him to sit on. I can lay him down easily to wash his legs and face and it helps keeps him mostly still instead of crawling and sliding all over. I have to say that I had one bad experience with it. He had a loose breastfeeding stool one day in the tub, and it was a mess. In a regular tub, I could just drain and start again, but instead the stool worked it's way into the fabric and I had to put it through the washing machine three times before using it again. Luckily, that only happened once, but I've got to take a star away because it was so frustrating.
Customer Review: What a WONDERFUL product!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I absolutely love this product!! Before I was allowed to give my newborn tub baths, I used this for her sponge baths. It's soft, super-absorbant and gently cradles her during bathtime. Now, I use it in my single basin kitchen sink, and it fits perfectly. As a first time mom, I was somewhat skeptical about bathing a slippery, squirming baby in a hard plastic infant tub. With the Safer Bather, my worries ended. The perfect fit in my sink is great because I don't have to worry about her sliding around in the infant tub. Another plus about putting it in the sink is that I don't have to bend over and break my back to try and bathe her in a regular tub. After she's done, clean up is easy. Pull the drain plug from the sink, and hang the Safer Bather up to dry. Another plus is it's machine washable! I would highly recommend this product to all new moms. If you don't have a large, or single basin sink, it can be used in an infant tub on your countertop. After my daughter grows out of the Safer Bather, I think it would make a good TV pillow. Enjoy!!
Customer Review: It's ok for short term use Summary: 3 Stars
After being on bedrest for 3 months before my twins were born, I was in a hurry to get something for bath-time. The previous reviews I had read on the Safer Bather were favorable. Unfortunately, I don't think that I would recommend this item to friends. The price was right at the time, but if we have any more children, I will have to go buy something else since this is going in the garbage very soon. I do like the fact that it is soft and machine washable, but those are the only pros. First of all, it says it is mildew resistant. I have not found this to be true. The tag says to wash it with non-chlorine bleach to get rid of any mildew stains, but I haven't found this to be helpful. By the way, I do squeeze it out well after each use. And with all the washings the fabric has pilled and the stuffing has gotten lumpy and misshapen. I am probably using this more than others, having twins and also because they are just starting to sit up well at 10 months old, but these problems were occurring after about 4 or 5 months of use.
