Baby Products Reviews of Leachco Back 'N Belly Contoured Body Pillow, IvoryCustomer Review: Sleeping through the night Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this pillow knowing it would take up my entire full size bed since my husband is deployed... which it does, with just enough room for me and my growing belly in the middle.
I had a hard time getting used to it because I'm not a side sleeper, but that's what the doc recommends, and I'm 6'1" so my legs barely fit. I would get horrible back aches at first, but stuck with it and tried different positions till I found one that's comfortable for me. I tried using my own pillow on top of this one but I would always end up on my back. Without a pillow, the inner seam digs into my neck so I wrapped a thin blanket around the top which works like a dream.
I still get aches throughout the night in my hips or back, but I think the pillow is actually helping reduce the occurrence of them, and without it, I would always sleep on my back.
Beware that it really does take up a lot of space, so for me it's a godsend because it helps my bed to not feel so empty as it cuddles me. This pillow is definitely worth the cost. If I could, I would have the fill a bit thicker in the ends and the stitching on the inner seam not so tight. I think the extra long straight pillow design would be better, but this one does the trick this time around.
Customer Review: MASSIVE Summary: 3 Stars
This pillow is absolutely enormous. My boyfriend calls it my "canoe" because a) it looks like one and b) I have to CLIMB in and out of it! I agree with all other posters that if you have a queen size bed this pillow takes up the good majority of it. I also think that the idea of cutting the end off of a pillowcase and fitting it on the head part of the pillow is a great idea. First, because it is somewhat scratchy fabric, and second because the thought of taking the cover on and off is NOT appealing. Getting a normal cut pillowcase on was challenge enough!
As for function, I do think the pillow works as far as easing hip pain, but I have begun to use it differently than as depicted in the product description. I take the U shape and put both sides together and sleep ON TOP of it, like one gigantic pillow.... my hips end up slipping on the middle but its fine because the pillow is there to support my belly. And I use an additional 2 pillows for my head. I am one giant pillow mess.
Overall, I would say the product does serve its purpose, I just wish for a few things:
A zip on and off cover with better material (i.e. jersey knit or something soft)
Smaller size.... I don't know if that would defeat the purpose however.
Customer Review: Great for arthritic people, too Summary: 4 Stars
This is not just for pregnant women. It works great for arthritics, too. I'm only 51 and already have very bad arthritis pain in my knees, hips, foot and sometimes back. I love sleeping with this body pillow. It helps me sleep on my back better (I WAS a stomach sleeper) and longer. I am short and this cuts in at the bottom in just the right place to elevate my legs just enough. For side sleeping, it keeps my knees from having to touch, which causes great pain, quickly. This pillow also helps keep me snuggly and warm, which helps my arthritis, too.
When I just want to rest or read a book, it can be folded to prop me up at just the right angle. It would be perfect for bedtime TV watching, too.
The down side is the inside curve of the head part of the pillow. It should have been made with elastic and shirring. It tends to cut tightly across my shoulder at times. I have to readjust my position to avoid that. Also, this seems to be molded more for short people. At 5'2", it's just perfect for me. But, I don't know if it would be as helpful for a taller person. I'm going to try some of the other suggestions of turning the pillow around and using my own pillow for my head and see how that works.
Customer Review: A wonderful pillow - couldn't be happier! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been eyeing this pillow since I was 5 weeks pregnant. I finally bought it now that I'm 16 weeks pregnant, and it is SO comfortable! I lay in this pillow and I feel like I'm sleeping in a raft floating in a pool. With this pillow, I can stay comfortable longer in different positions. I still roll over, but not as much as before. It's nice to know I don't have to take the pillow with me when I want to roll over (and I don't knock it on the floor).
I haven't tried wrestling the cover off of it yet, but that will probably be the worst part. I have no problem with the quality of the fabric or the fluffiness of the stuffing. I have a king size bed and me, my pillow, my husband (who is a big guy), and our 90 pound dog have lots of room. (...)(Amazon was out of stock) and I think you can get a separate cover for it if you want an extra one (...).
I plan on testing this pillow as a breast feeding pillow but I'm not sure how it will work out. If I only use it for sleeping I still think it's worth it. I sleep so much better now that I can't imagine getting any bigger and not having this pillow! My husband even told me that if I didn't like it, he'd sleep with it!

Customer Review: Big, but great product! Summary: 5 Stars
I kept on holding off on buying a maternity pillow saying "oh, i'll just use regular pillows" and "oh, I don't need that!".
As soon as I hit the 20th week of pregnancy, my back started hurting and I just wasn't able to really find a good position, no matter how many pillows I had (at some point 5-6).
I got this one since, not only would I get to use it as a maternity pillow, but it also can be used for breastfeeding (it also seems a little bit more sturdy than the boppy for this purpose since I'm expecting twins). While they're not here yet to try this (i'm still 1 month away) the pillow has allowed me to sleep quite comfortably for the last few months.
As someone that has been trying to avoid overpriced-and-low-quality Made in China products, I was surprised to open the box and find out that this one is made in the USA! The pillow comes with a washable cotton cover. I found the sewing on the cover to be well done too (As someone who sews for fun, I hate it when there are threads everywhere and seams that come apart right away) so I have been very happy with this pillow so far.
One warning: it is large; it occupies half of a Queen size bed; but it is quite worth it.
