Customer Review: Things to know about this toy before buying for an infant

Just wanted to share a few things that disappointed me about this toy. My baby got the Lamaze giraffe as a gift and loves it and he also loves other music-based toys, so I thought this would be perfect. First, it is big...look at the dimensions closely as I should have, it's not really infant-sized. Most unfortunate, however, is that it takes firm squeezing for the legs to play the notes (they are basically squeakers in different tones) and the legs are so fat it takes an adult-sized hand or coordinated squeezing with both hands to make the noise. There's no way an infant could produce the noises. We've tried even holding his hand in ours to press on the legs but pressing alone doesn't make a sound, you have to firmly squeeze. So, as a musical toy for an infant, this is a total loss. It will probably be a cute toy for when he is a toddler. The ears do have crinkle fabric which is the one thing he can enjoy, but the toy itself is too bulky to really be practical for that (it doesn't fit in his lap or wouldn't fit with him in his carseat, for example, so it has to be next to him rather than "with" him).
