Baby Products Reviews of Lamaze Play and Grow Jacques the Peacock Take Along ToyCustomer Review: Baby loves it! Summary: 5 Stars
My baby loves this thing! We usually hang it from the carseat handle - she can't see it in the car when the handle's retracted, but when we're out and about she can see it and smack at it. When they're too small they'll probably ignore it totally, but eventually my daughter would stare at it entranced, and around 8-10 weeks she finally started trying to reach for it and a little later to "talk" to it. This was the first toy that got her doing either of those things! She's 15 weeks now and is still only smacking it and talking to it, so all of the bells and whistles aren't getting much use yet, but when we're out Jacques has also entranced 1-year-olds and even a 3-year-old, so I'm anticipating getting a lot of use out of it!
My husband hates spending money and thought this was a rip-off at first, but he's had to admit it was worth it once he saw how much the baby likes it.
Customer Review: Lamaze Jacques The Peacock Summary: 4 Stars
We received 3 Lamaze toys like these at my baby shower and after seeing how much my son liked them I bought this one as well. Out of the 4 we have this is his favorite. It seems to be easier for him to hold, he tends to hug it, and the black/white contrast on the back really grabs his attention. He's almost 5 months old and hasn't figured out the squeaker yet but he enjoys checking himself out in the mirror and shoving the "feathers" of Jacques in his mouth. It wouldn't make a good teething toy but it certainly has entertained him when we're out and about and besides his baby links this is the second toy I reach for to give him.
The only downside to this toy is the clip. I like being able to clip it on everything BUT I like being able to take off the clip too which I cannot do on this item. My other Lamaze toys I can take the clip off.
Customer Review: Nice toy Summary: 4 Stars
Very colorful and playful toy. My baby girl who is 14 weeks old enjoys swatting at it when hung over her while on her playmat. She likes the crinkly noise and likes to eat its little beak. I wished it had more things for her to hold on because it has those wide flat panels (wings of the bird) and it's hard for a little one my age to grab onto it. It is nice that the back side of the toy is also interesting so even when it's turned there's something for my baby to look it. The squeaky green button is useless because it is not a soft button so babies aren't able to press down on it to make the noise. The plastic ring is great for you to hang on a playmat or a baby carrier but wished it was detachable because when she sits on m lap to play with it, the ring gets in the way and it's hard plastic so I'm afraid she might get hurt from it.
Customer Review: Baby's Favorite Toy Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this peacock based on amazon reviews and have not been disappointed. This is our baby's favorite toy. He started taking interest in the back of the peacock (which has the black and white contrast design) around six weeks of age. We held it up for him to stare at during car rides (which he used to hate). It can also be hooked to the car seat handle. Our baby is now four and a half months old and this has been his favorite toy for the past month. He never seems to tire of moving the different parts around to hear the crinkling paper sound and fingering the different textures of cloth. He often uses the white plastic hook to chew on. This is such a good toy for keeping our baby occupied that we've turned the car around twice to retrieve it when we headed out for errands and forgot to get it into the diaper bag.
Customer Review: Perfect first toy for your baby Summary: 5 Stars
This is the perfect toy you can get for a baby starting as young as two months old. It's really entertaining for the baby with all those attractive colors even before she can grasp it. My daughter starting reaching out for it when she was 2 and a half months. Before I used to hang it over her crib side. After she grabbed it and enjoyed the sound of the wings as she touches it and the rattle noise, she didn't want to let go. It even helped me a LOOOOT when she first went to the daycare. I used to give it to her before we get into the room and leave it there as we said our goodbyes. It was so effective in easing the transition. Now she's 9 months old, and Jacques has got a broken wing, it has endured some shaking, and still it's her favorite toy. I highly recommend it to any baby. It deserves 10 not 5 starts.
