We bought this based on the reviews for our then 5 month old son. I waited 'til he could sit on his own to bring out the toy. I was disappointed that the sides are less than half filled and the floating decorations all stick at the top instead of floating in the water. The fish rattles and he has to use two hands to hold it. The clam does not catch his attention at all - it squeaks when I squeeze it but is too hard for him. He likes the crab that crinkles and is easy to hold and chew. He likes the colors of the star fish but the rattles is so quite it can barely be heard. The toy does not hold his attention well at this time but, we will keep bringing it out at least weekly to help him learn the whole taking things out and putting things in concept. Once he gets that I think he will enjoy it more.Customer Review: Big 1 Stars
I FEEL TOTALLY CHEATED!!! I just got this toy today and after reading the reviews about it I was so excited to get this for my little boy. The big surprise I was refering to is that there is no water inside the plastic on either side like the picture makes you believe. And I do not see anyway to add the water myself. There also are no little creatures inside the plastic that were supposed to be floating in the water. I am very disappointed with this. I feel like it was false advertising and way overpriced when you find out that the coolest part is not included. I am very upset because I thought this was going to be such a neat toy. I will not be purchasing anything from Lamaze ever again. I strongly recommend no one else does either because you do not get what you paid for.Customer Review: Another great toy by Lamaze

I bought this toy for my three nieces and nephews for Christmas and heard such good things about it that I wanted one for our own daughter, even though I think I bought it a little early for her to be very interested in it at first. I brought it back out recently and she's showing a lot of interest in the little fish and I think their bright colors and different textures keep her intrigued. I actually like how they roll around and sometimes pop out of her reach because it makes her reach for them and seriously consider crawling to get them.
She hasn't quite picked up the talent of putting them back in the fish bowl, but we're working on that! I think it's a great toy and well thought out to keep young children amused for some time!

My daughter has had this toy since she was about 9 months old (now 17 months old) and she does like it but it's not anywhere near her favorite. My daughter will every once in a while play with the toys (taking them out and putting them back in) but mostly she throws all four toys out of the fish tank and then moves on. If this was a $5 toy that would be fine but I think it's WAY over priced. It was a present and I hope the person that bought it for her got it on sale because for $20 something much better could have been purchased.
Also, the four "fish" toys included are very similar to many dog toys so if you have a dog in the house beware.

This is the first toy that my daughter really ever responded to. She loved the "crinkly" crab from about 3 months old and would watch it, squeeze it and take it everywhere. As she got older, she would experiment with all the different sounds that each fish/sea creature makes. She also likes to take them in and out of the fishbowl. This is a great toy to take on the road since everything packs up into the fishbowl, but there is always a danger of losing one of the pieces. For those household with dogs---the clam squeaks like a dog toy, so at times we have to put it away so the dogs don't get confused and claim it for their own.
