Baby Products Reviews of Lamaze Musical Inchworm

Customer Review: Meh, it's just a worm
Summary: 3 Stars

I had high hopes for this "musical" inchworm. Unfortunately, I was a little let down. Let's start with some pros, because everyone wants to hear the good news first! This is indeed an inchworm. There are inches on it and everything. AND, there are interesting patterns and sounds (crinkly body, squeaky toy) for baby to play with. I mean, my kid liked this toy, he wasn't wild about it and I probably could have saved my money but I thought it was really cute. However, there is a big con that cost this puppy (not really a puppy, it is a worm) 2 stars. It claims to be musical, well that is just junk! Yes yes, you can push a really awkward button in it's head, and if your house is soundproofed then you might be able to hear it! It is so quiet and there is no way my son could ever produce the music alone. I would say just buy another lamaze toy, as they are all pretty similar and I found the bug one was way better.

Customer Review: wonderful!
Summary: 5 Stars

We actually received this as a hand me down and didn't even know about the music button until I read these reviews! Our daughter LOVES her inchworm. She is 2 1/2 months old and just really starting to try and get control over her hands. This toy is perfect for her. She will cuddle it, hit it to make the crinkle noises, chew on his face/legs, and is really beginning to appreciate the sounds that it makes. We give her "worm kisses" and she thinks it's the funniest thing ever! HIGHLY recommend. For those that complain about the music, we don't even have that option since the batteries in our were dead when we got it, but that hasn't stopped her from loving this toy. Someone complained that it was too quiet, but with a toy that will obviously be lying right next to a newborn or little infant, I personally wouldn't want it to be loud.

Customer Review: First toy my son could manipulate...
Summary: 5 Stars

This toy was the first toy that my son could try to manipulate, when he was about 2 months old, we'd lay it diagonally across his body, and he could make crinkle noises by moving. As he has grown, so has the way he plays with the inchworm- the legs were the right size for him to practice grasping, and the colors and textures are still interesting enough for him at eight months. Now that he's a (relatively) big guy, he grabs the inchworm and wrestles with it on the floor. I agree with other reviews that the "musical" part is a bit of a misnomer- yes, it plays a song if you squeeze the inchworm's head, but you have to squeeze so hard that the baby wouldn't be able to do it. Overall, one of the best toys we received as a gift.

Customer Review: Not a bad toy
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this for my 3 months old daughter, she seems like she's interested with the worm and the different fabrics makes it more entertaining for her. It plays a song, but only one and very short. This is why I didn't give 5 stars because there's only one song and it is very very short and the sound is very low. If you have any sound at all in the room you'll probably won't hear the music but I guess if you have it close enough to the baby she'll probably can hear it. I wasn't expecting it to be blaring but I expect it to be just a tad louder. Overall I'd grade this toy a "B". Would I recommend it, probably to parents with newborn just so they can see their baby grow, but at 3 months and up, I'd weigh my options.

Customer Review: Decent.
Summary: 3 Stars

Lamaze products are amazing because they are so cute and colorful. The problem? They all seem to do the same thing. We received this as a gift and while its cute and cuddly its not a favorite. Like another person posted it can nicely be used to prop a child up for tummy time...and could be cute to take pictures of next to. But...we got two inchworms...and the other one we got the pieces actually come apart so you can connect the inchworm together & it sings. And while connecting the pieces is harder for a newborn to do (ok impossible!) it definitely grows with the child! My 2.5 year old is entertained by it and allows the two kids to play together...so...nix this worm and go look for the other one!
