Baby Products Reviews of Kushies 5 Pack Reusable Ultra Diapers for InfantsCustomer Review: A LEAKY DISSAPPOINTMENT! Summary: 1 Stars
I'm a first time mom & really wanted to go cloth. The Kushies had some decent reviews, so I put them on my registry & rec'd a 5pack. Tried them out when my daughter was 11lbs (well within the 10-22lb wt limit). My daughter has a habit of peeing right when you change her, which is what she did in these diapers & they LEAKED EVERYWHERE!!
I contacted Kushies to see about help, they informed me she was in their opinion a heavy wetter or I must be letting her sit in them for a long time for her to leak that much. (um not when she's only been sitting in the diaper for 5 minutes). I followed the instructions for care, washed them before sticking them on her & there is just not enough elasticity around her legs, pee comes right out!
I HATE these diapers, hoping I can sell them on ebay or trade w/ someone in my cloth diaper group for some Bum Genius or ANYTHING ELSE! I'm shocked so many people like these diapers; I've had ZERO leaks w/ disposables, & even using the old fashioned cloth w/ the plastic panties has worked, these diapers just SUCK!
Customer Review: We love the Kushies AIO's! Summary: 5 Stars
We knew as soon as we found out I was pregnant that we were going to use cloth diapers, and shortly thereafter my quest for the perfect diapers began. I tried seperate diapers and covers, and I was less than pleased with how awkward they were to use. I then got a bunch of Kushies AIO's, and am in diaper heaven! Our daughter wore the infant size from about 10 pounds until just last week when we noticed they were rather tight on her thighs, and she is now at 20 pounds...they may fit a baby with slimmer thighs a little longer than they did her, but we have since gotten the toddler size.We use these at night with a seperate liner for added protection, and seldom have leaks, and we use them during the day without a liner, also with very rare leaks. We still use disposables when we are away from home, as our baby bag just isn't big enough for spare cloth diapers and a spare bag for wet/soiled diapers, but quite honestly, we have found that the Kushies AIO's fit better and stop leaks better than most disposables, and they are so much better for the environment too!
Customer Review: Ultra bad Summary: 1 Stars
Kushies ultras were the first cloth diaper we tried for our daughter. We liked the appeal of an all-in-one, and we liked the velcro closures. Well, it was a disaster. We tried week after week, trying to see if her legs would get a bit chunkier, but they'd never fit into the diapers, even after she was well into the weight guideline. The crotch was too narrow, and the legs gaped, so everything would leak whenever she was on her side. Even if we'd been able to get a good fit, the diapers took two trips through the dryer to dry and would form giant "diaper snakes" in the wash with all the velcro catching on everything. We switched to Fuzzi Bunz brand diapers, and realized that cloth diapering can be easy and convenient. There are plenty of good diapers on the market. It's too bad BRU has gone with such a dud. If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say it was a plot to sell more Pampers. :-) In all fairness, Kushies are cheap, and if they work well for you, that's great. They just did not work well for us at all.
Customer Review: Decent day-time diapers Summary: 3 Stars
The kushies I have tried seem have their ups and downs. They are reasonably trim and you can get a good fit with them because of the velcro-like closures, but I have found that after weeks of use and washes, the velcro closures gather threads and lint and make them hold less and less tightly. This would make a larger child or aspiring nudist tempted to remove his/her diaper. (You'll know if you have one of these kinds of kids, lol). They have elstic in the legs and waist which helps with breast fed infants, but the elastic seems to loose some softness after use. I think these diapers are okay for the daytime, but can definitly leak at night or for going out. My toddler can pee right through them though, so maybe more than jsut flannel is needed on the inside. The 5 layers of flannel plus absorbent inner makes them take a long time to dry, but for the money you can afford to have a bunch of them and just change you baby all the time (which is good for them anyway.) I think they are an okay value. Definitly better than flat diapers!
Customer Review: Good for babies who don't move Summary: 4 Stars
These diapers are okay for use until your child can roll over or crawl. It seems that no matter which way I stick the straps they still allow leaks up the tummy. These diapers have held up pretty well for the 5 months I used them, but now the velcro is starting to pill and it seems that you could probably pull the the velcro off of the diaper if you take the straps off too fast. Also, I can't figure out if it may just be our water but these diapers have developed these odd orange stains where the seam of the outer layer and inner layer meet. This doesn't effect the function of the diaper but I can't help but wonder what it is. These also cannot last an overnight without a doubler.
Overall these have been sturdy and might last through a couple of kids. You have to watch the leaks during "tummy time" but a doubler can fix this issue. This is a good cost effective approach to an all-in-one but for us we are trying other diapers now that our son has grown out of these.
Overall these
