Baby Products Reviews of Kids Shampoo Rinse Cup SRC44Customer Review: Took me a while to get it to work correctly Summary: 3 Stars
So here's the deal with this thing. I bought it because as soon as your baby starts sitting up in the tub, instead of reclining back in the baby tub where it's easy to rinse their hair, you start thinking...."Hmmm, using my hand to divert a cup of water poured on their head, away from their face, like my parents did, just isn't working."
I saw this thing at Babies R Us and figured it'd be the answer to my problems. Clearly, babies do not enjoy water running into their face. They seem to think they are drowning, which is no good. It's taken me months to use this thing properly with a, now, 19 month old. You have to use it like a squeegee, of sorts. Fill it with water and place the rubber part on the front of their hairline. But then, as you tilt the cup to pour the water, keep it firm against their head as you push it back (like a squeegee), which squeegees the water back away from their face as it's pouring down the rest of their head.
I haven't been able to keep water from drizzling down the sides of her head into her ears, but at least, the water no longer gets into her face. If you have a child who will not tolerate the pressure on their head as you're squeegeeing the thing across the top of their head, then, it won't work for you.
Customer Review: Poorly designed Summary: 2 Stars
My sister-in-law bought this shampoo rinse cup, which I've had the chance to try out whenever we visit my mother-in-law. The rubber on the front which is supposed to form the seal has worn off after a few years, but we still use the cup.
This cup has never worked very well for us. When my daughter was younger, I couldn't quite get her to look all the way up, so I had to resort to other methods of washing her hair. Nowadays, she will look up, but the seal is in tatters, so water gets in her face unless I position it far enough back, in which case, I might as use a regular cup or a small bucket.
Inside the cup is a wall between the front and back of the cup. I'm not sure what that is for, except maybe so the water can came out more gently? I would have preferred no wall. The way it's designed, it's more difficult to scoop up water and more difficult to control the pouring.
Customer Review: Doesn't work! Summary: 1 Stars
This product is poorly designed. There's a rubber insert on the flat side which you're supposed to press against your child's head to make a seal so the water only flows back from that point. Two problems: first, the rubber is so rigid you can't get a good seal without pressing REALLY hard. The second, and biggest, problem is that the rubber insert doesn't go all the way to the edges of the cup. There is a space of about 3mm at each side where the water just gushes out. Because of where you'd have the cup positioned on your child's head, this means the water goes in their ears, down both sides of their face and even some into the eyes. Since it's water in the eyes which really freaks my kid out, it's useless to us.
She does enjoy stuffing her other bath toys in it though so we have got some use out of it.
Customer Review: Works for us Summary: 4 Stars
I actually purchased this the other week at a store near our house and not on Amazon. It works really well for our 1-yr old daughter. When I press the cup against her head and cradle her head in my other hand it works just fine. Granted, water still gets around her ears, but it stays away from her eyes for the most part. This may not be the perfect product to keep water out entirely, but it's certainly much better for us than using nothing at all. I'm glad I purchased it and use it every time I bathe my daughter.
Customer Review: Makes my life easier. Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not sure why all the negative reviews. This thing works so much better than a regular cup as long as the child is leaning their head back a little. It's easy to get my 9 month old baby to lean her head back because the rubber part is soft so I can press it up against her forehead with one hand and use the other hand to support the back of her head. I've even tested this on myself and it works well. Water does go in the ears a bit but at least not the eyes.
