Customer Review: Not if they're scared to wash their hair

This looked like a great buy in the store.
It looks like it would make sense:
Fill it with water
Press it against your child's forehead, creating a seal
Water will come out and not go into your childs face and eyes.
Tried it with my 3 year old and immediately saw it was not so simple.
First of all, because my son is markedly and understandably afraid of water going into his eyes and on his face, HE DOES NOT WANT TO WASH HIS HAIR. This means that he doesnt really care that I have a new tool to wash his hair. It means he is scared and will push away when I try to wash his hair. (Im sure I did the same at his age).
So FIRST PROBLEM: Your child has to be looking up, head back for this to work. If they dont look up/ head back, this is pretty much useless. As my son is hiding his head from me and naturally looking down at the water and his toys, "look up, head back so I can wash your hair" is not sufficient encouragement.
SECOND PROBLEM: the seal is rather poor OR the design of the cup is rather poor. You can see in the pics here, the cup has a 'shelf' of some sort in the cup. For me, this shelf makes the water come out fine from the bottom section, but it gushes out of the top section, or the water in the top section (nearest the handle) doesnt come out at all. For you to get any water to come out, you have to fill the cup to the top with water, which in itself, is not very convenient. I should be able to put in a little water and get my son used to that, while getting some hair rinsed at the same time. Also you do have to press pretty hard to get a seal, and your child cannot move.
LASTLY: cleaning is ridiculous. The shelf makes little corners inside the cup that are hard to get into and are just pockets for mold. Oh, and this thing is covered in stickers that dont just peel off, but shred off over time, leaving paper rollies everywhere.
So, no not a fan. I give it two stars because if you child is calm and doesnt mind washing his hair, just doesnt like the water, this is for you.
Also, I'm going to try this product as this appears to address all the issues I mentioned above.
