My daughter uses this mat on her table just fine, she has a glass topped table. My grandson is getting a bit bigger so we all decided to make a move from the high chair to booster seat letting him eat right at the table. I have a wooden table and this mat's suction cups do not stick to the table. Since he really only eats at my house a couple of times a week usually, I tried putting down one of those disposable thin plastic mats first (which really aren't big enough to protect much of the table as I have to run it down the side to protect the wood) however, this rubberized mat is larger and sticks fine to the disposable plastic mat I put under it. This way the little tray part of this mat hangs down to catch the mess and spreads much wider than the disposable mats to protect more of the table. So though I am having to use something under the mat or it won't stick to my table, it still works pretty well, easy to clean - you can wash it by hand or lay it in the top rack of your dishwasher. It rolls up pretty compactly by rolling in on itself and tucking into the tray portion of the mat.Customer Review: Like washing an octopus

This item is great for taking on the go--restaurants, playdates, friend's houses... I don't have to worry about plates being thrown on the floor or food getting all over a potentially dirty table. It sticks to almost all of the tables we've used it on and is difficult for my 15 month old to pull up--though he can if he really wants to. It's large enough to cover a nice size area but still rolls up easily and the material is easy to wipe off and take home to be washed. But it is not dishwasher safe and because of the suction cups, it's like trying to wash an octopus in the kitchen sink. I wish I could throw it in the dishwasher, but I understand that this just won't work with this great material. Also, don't cut on it. I made that mistake and easily cut the mat.Customer Review: A must-have for eating out!

We love this placemat and, more importantly, our baby does too! It's large enough to cover the entire space of a table where we push our baby up in her high chair. This is great so that when she leans over to suck, her mouth is on the mat and not the icky restaurant table. No matter how much she sucks, pats or pounds on the mat, it stays right in place, thanks to the suction cups on the bottom. When not in use, it rolls up nicely into its little tray and fits well in the diaper bag so it's always on us for the impromptu restaurant stop. If you like to eat out with your baby, I'd definitely recommend this product.Customer Review: Indispensable for eating on the go!

This placemat is awesome! It rolls up small and is easy to carry with you. We use it whenever we eat out- it unrolls and sticks firmly to a table- it provides a clean surface for eating and catches a lot of mess. Then you just roll it up and take home to wash in the sink for next time.
It is BPA-free.
This company also makes great bibs of the same material with the same kind of catch tray. Wonderful for messy foods like yogurt. Washes in the sink- so much easier than treating stains and washing with the laundry.
I highly recommend both!
Customer Review: be careful with wood tables

we use this with a portable chair that mounts onto the table. When we clamp the chair down over the mat on our wood dining table it leaves marks from the clamps. The chair by itself makes no marks at all, so it must be some type of reaction with the placemat and the wood. be careful...... have put some heavy card stock in to separate from the table and seems to do fine. other than that it works great. easy to travel with and easy to clean (if you take it off the table and throw it in the sink... doesn't wipe off real well with a damp rag)
