Customer Review: Child outgrows it quickly because of poor design!

I received two of these as a gift. As a first time parent, I thought they looked great for "swaddling for dummies"! We used one for about two weeks only to discover that our baby (who only weighed 7lb 8oz at birth) was too large for it! The velcro attaches acress of the chest/arm area even though there is tons of space for growth at the feet. In order to get it to close, we had to scoot her down and then fold over the extra fabric at the neck. It kept flipping up and covering her face while she slept. So, we switched to using the sleep sack we received instead and it worked MUCH better. Don't waste your money; just swaddle the old fashioned way w/ receiving blankets.Customer Review: EXCELLENT

I registered for this product and received it at my shower. The nurses tried to show me how to swaddle tons of times, but my daughter always seemed to squirm right out of it. When we got home from the hospital I got it out and used it right away. It worked like a charm, no hassles. I could only use it for about 3 weeks and the she learned to kick her way out of it. She doesn't like to be swaddled anymore, plus she likes her hands free to suck on. It was great while it lasted and I didn't have to worry about the blanket coming lose and possibly suffocating her. I recommend this to all new mommy's that can't get the hand of swaddling.Customer Review: Keep baby's arms -straight at their sides- when swaddling.

I was nervous about proper swaddling but amazed at how quickly I became a pro, even with an oversized infant blanket! I also recommend Beyond Baby Basics blankets, check them out online, they are bigger than the usual little blankets out there and work awesome for swaddling.
The trick is to keep baby's arms straight at their sides (not crossed at chest). It sounds like this is torturous but actually baby prefers it and it is much harder to escape, otherwise the blanket or swaddler will creep up towards neck and face. Happiest Baby on the Block DVD is essential when learning about baby's swaddling needs and how to do it correctly.

This blanket is awesome. I bought it before our son was born thinking that maybe we could use it as a back-up. The first night we were home from the hospital we tried three different blankets, all of which he could power his way out of, he is really strong! He did not sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time. At 4:00 AM, a moment of clarity through the exhaustion. That one blanket has velcro. We pulled it out and wrapped him up. He was sleeping in minutes. He slept for four hours straight! What a lifesaver. We went on-line and ordered three more in the morning. I will be buying this for every mom and dad-to-be we know!Customer Review: Hated it!

Maybe my baby was unusually strong and tall; however, this flimsy blanket would not hold him from the moment he came home from the hospital. We thought my mom (his grandma) would have an easier time using the SwaddleMe than using the origami-style wrapping of hospital receiving blankets... but it was a total joke.
Having lost faith in all the quick wraps, I was as surprised as anyone when we had to turn to the "Amazing Miracle Blanket" when he was too strong and tall to stay swaddled in our tightest blanket wraps. The name just sounded too silly to me, but I'm a convert. I highly recommend that product instead.
