Baby Products Reviews of Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Microfleece, Small, IvoryCustomer Review: A lifesaver for us Summary: 5 Stars
My husband's paternity leave ended at about 6 weeks, and he works a lot of nights, so we needed a way for me to swaddle her tightly enough (I could never seem to get it right with the regular blankets), and these were excellent!
The trick to making the velcro last is to wash them seperately if you can, to avoid getting other fabrics stuck in it. I did this, and I never had a problem with them losing stickiness.
We used these faithfully until the summertime, when we realized we had to give them up because they were just too hot. When we did finally try a night without them (at about 8 months) she didn't protest at all, and she is still a great sleeper to this day.
Customer Review: Caution - doesn't fit every baby properly Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this wrap when my son was 1 month old. He was well within weight limits, but he was already "busting at the seams" so to speak when I closed it around his arms. I also noticed that my little Houdini was somehow able to wriggle around in the wrap and get the front up around his face while he was sleeping. I was a little concerned about his ability to breathe, but more troublesome was the irritation factor that woke him up.
Because he was already able to get the small opening up around his face, I decided not to buy the larger size to see if it would work for him. I LOVE the concept, but I highly recommend trying the wrap for naptime to see how it fits your baby.
Customer Review: Works like a charm Summary: 5 Stars
My husband & I became pro-swaddlers with receiving blankets, so we didn't think we'd even need this, especially since our baby girl was born in June. But even though summer in California should be warm enough to not need fleece, the fleece really worked perfectly for a tiny baby that always seemed to be cold. Believe me, they want the warmth! And it was great to use if we were in a hurry to swaddle her, or if we wanted to pick her up and didn't want the blankets to come undone. It's also great when they are 2-3 months old and want to kick their legs free (you can swaddle them tight up top and leave the legs loose in the bag). I will definitely be using this again for my next baby.
Customer Review: New Mom's Best Friend! Summary: 5 Stars
Being a first time mom, this has been such a sanity saver! My son loves his pacifier, but with regular blanket swaddling his arms would move around a lot and accidentally pull or knock out his pacifier and he would inevitably wake up multiple times. Now, with him being safely swaddled, he sleeps the whole night through. The only suggestion I would give to other parents is to wash it in a pillow case, as the velcro can attach to other items in the washer causing snags. I absolutely love this, and would never have another child without having one. I do also have 2 by the brand First Years, and they are not as successful at keeping him swaddled - his arms usually come right out.
Customer Review: not just for sleeping!! Summary: 5 Stars
While they bill this swaddling wrap for sleeping and calming babies, we use it in our car seat, since it is recommended to avoid bulky jackets under the harness. It keeps our little one so warm in the freezing weather, and if we are going to be outside, or if it is extremely windy, we add a blanket on top. The best part is the little hole in the rear for the buckle! it also helps keep her warm in our sling when we go on brisk morning walks, I would highly recommend it (especially since it washes well). We have a wiggler, so we just wrap the arms a little loose, so she doesn't feel so constricted when she's feeling active-- she feels like she's got room, and we keep her warm.
