Baby Products Reviews of Kiddopotamus SwaddleMe Microfleece, Small, Ivory

Customer Review: Runs very small and not a winner for us!
Summary: 2 Stars

I am useless at swaddling...I could never get it right and conventional blankets do not always lend well to this so based on reviews I bought a bunch of these!
We were so impressed on our first use...it was so easy to use, nice and cozy, very soft...all was well!! We had a calm, happy baby!
But one wash - cold cycle - and it had shrunk significantly!!! Add to that it runs very small indeed! Our little one was less than 6lbs at birth - small is designed for 'birth through three months" according to Kiddopotamus, yet this was good for all of two weeks, after which point it did not even meet the shoulders! So a baby that is born at the average 7lbs may be too big for the newborn size!
It also bobbled up after just one wash making it look old quickly!
It does work well in terms of swaddling, but the quality is simply not there...so if you chose to buy, pick a larger size or maybe look at other brands if you want a quality, lasting product!
Personally we found a sleep sack a better pick and offloaded the rest on ebay rather than even removing them from the pack!

Customer Review: Swaddleme and beyond. A must for first-time parents
Summary: 5 Stars

As you can see, there are a lot of positive reviews on Swaddleme. Forget "baby-gami." More than a swaddling blanket, this item will really help you put your baby to sleep. We used it for our first child and it worked like magic. From what I've read of baby literature, there is some controversy about swaddling a baby (and for too long). Our son, currently 5 months old, slept in a swaddle me until his 4th month. He is a perfectly happy baby, loves people, and more importantly, has even learned how to sleep on his own (by 5 months). So, I'm not convinced that swaddling does any damage...if anything, mom and baby are happy because they both can rest in those early months.

Lastly, here's a tip for folks wanting to extend their swaddleme use. Our son got big FAST -- he's 5 months and 22 pounds. So, he outgrew it pretty quick. But his Japanese grandma was smart: she cut out "leg holes" in the bottom. This worked great and extended our use of the swaddleme for another month.

Oh, it's also good to have at least 3-4 Swaddlemes.

Customer Review: Must Have!!!!

My husband and I used this in the hospital from the very start. It was absolutely wonderful. The baby slept so soundly. We were unable to wrap our son like the nurses do in those blankets, so we used the swaddle instead. The nurses were even going on and on about how nice it was. The fleece material makes the baby very cozy for the cool hospital environment.

We continued to use it at home every night. My son is just over 5 months and is just now outgrowing it to the point where he can "escape" it after a short time. I now give this gift to all my friends having babies. My mom gives it as a gift as well. We all witnessed how great it worked. My son was able to wear the small the whole time because he is fairly thin weighing only 15 lbs as of 22 weeks. There is a big jump between the small and the large. The large still swallows him whole like the small did him as a newborn. You must have this swaddle. It creates a peaceful sleeping baby! It also prevents the baby from rolling over when you prefer them to sleep on their back.

Customer Review: Absolutely a must

Let's face it, you have a newborn and tons of dresses, etc. Do you really need them? Don't think so, as mostly it's a wrap you will be having, etc. Now, the problem with wraps is that invariably the legs "shoot" out, sooner or later, the blankets get tangled and there's a pronounced risk of SIDS due to suffocation. On these aspects, this product is a life-saver. The velcro tags get attached wonderfully and tucks the legs in too. The baby also loves it as there's no creases, etc. which is pitching him/her somewhere. A HIGHLY recommended product.

There are 2 sizes - big and small. They do have a difference. I think the small suffices till 3 or 4 months. The big's not required much since by that time you'll need to figure out if your baby likes/dislikes such wraps, or prefers clothes, etc. etc. Don't try to use the big on a newborn though. It's too big and the newborn will effectively "swim" inside!! Finally, the velcro tabs won't fit and thus you'll have troble attaching them.

For a young infant who isn't active, the SwaddleMe is a nice alternative to traditional receiving blankets. However, if you have a wiggler, this item isn't going to help. Our baby lasted in this swaddler for maybe three weeks until he figured out how to kick out of it. Once he got his legs free, he'd wiggle around until the material was bunched up around his neck--not a very comforting sight. So, we bought "The Amazing Miracle Blanket." It was truly amazing--it's practically impossible for a young infant to even loosen the material let alone get out of it. Baby started sleeping in the Miracle Blanket at 8 weeks and immediately was down for 7 to 8 hours at a stretch. We finally had to put it up when, at 5 months, he no longer needed, or wanted, to be swaddled. It's $29.99, but worth every penny. They have a website--www.miracleblanket.com. Also, the SwaddleMe uses velcro, which is ridiculously loud when you're trying to quietly change baby in the middle of the night.
