Customer Review: Essential Baby Item
Summary: 5 Stars

When my daughter was born, I didn't know about swaddling, and it would take me HOURS to get her to sleep! I would feed or rock her in my arms until she falls asleep, then put her in her crib... and she'd flail her arms, wake up and cry, and I had to start all over! What a nightmare!

Then I figured out that since her arms wake her, it would make sense to wrap her in something so she couldn't move them as much... so I started wrapping her in regular receiving blankets. It worked! It became much easier to get her to sleep. But then she wiggled out of those receiving blankets and wake up again.

When she was a little over a month old, somehow I came across SwaddleMe blankets on the Internet and immediately bought it. It worked like a charm! It was so easy to wrap my daughter in it, and it stayed put. My daughter started sleeping so much better!

I wish I found those blankets sooner - it would've saved me from so many sleepless nights!

2 years later, my son was born, and thankfully I already knew about those blankets from the start. He goes to sleep great in the SwaddleMe blanket! Out of curiosity, I tried to put him to sleep without this blanket, and his arms wake him right away - exactly the same as my daughter!

I consider this blanket one of the most important baby items you could buy. It should be a must for a new mother who wants to get some sleep!

Here's a nifty product for newborn babies that I read about in a magazine. When our baby boy was born, the people in the hospital suggested swaddling and showed us how to do it. Well, best of luck! Our boy is large, strong and active. A swaddling generally lasts only for a few minutes.

The SwaddleMe is an adjustable wrap with velcro fasteners. I place the baby in and give him a moderately tight wrap and fasten him securely with the velcro patches. He doesn't like getting wrapped and can put up a good struggle. However, once wrapped he calms down and seldom cries thereafter. We've had him sleep peacefully for up to six hours while under wrap. When he's awake, he sometimes struggles to get out and is strong enough to kick the bottom out and he sometimes get his arms partially free. When that happens, the SwaddleMe is wadded up on his upper body. It's a minor problem, but we keep a watch on him just in case. Usually, when he gets partially free, he starts crying so that serves as a warning system.

This is a wonderful product. I wonder what we'd do without it? We have several of them in different colors and use them every night. We also have a fleece model which we use on cooler evenings. Try one. We'll bet you can't do without it from then on.

Customer Review: Nice blanket, but...
Summary: 3 Stars

When preparing to have our first child I bought one of each kind of swaddle, not knowing what we would like the best. We've also tried the standard 'receiving' blanket and some nice stretchy ones. This one we liked the least. My baby wiggles a lot when settling for sleep and every time she moved she would hear the velcro coming apart a little and it would bother her. She had a very hard time falling asleep in it. The Miracle blanket works best for her because it does a better job at keeping her arms down than others and doesn't have noisy velcro on it. I've also tried the sleep sacks. As she's getting more and more arm control I'm finding that she is slowly liking the "Halo Sleep Sack" better, but at night she still needs her arms confined. I also like the sleep sack idea because it is only one layer of blanket (where this SwaddleMe is two in the front when closed. The other thing I didn't like about the SwaddleMe or the Miracle Blanket is that with my baby's wiggling she invariably ends up with a gap between the feet sack and the top part and since we tend to use t-shirts rather than onsies her belly gets exposed and cold. So, I wouldn't recommend this for an active, noise sensitive baby.

Customer Review: Didn't measure up

I am unhappy with this product. My newborn baby is 22" long and weighs 7 pounds. I purchased this item after speaking to the rep about size. I've found that my son can easily get his legs out of the bottom pouch through the opening. I think that if there was a longer strip of velcro instead of the short square, this would be prevented. He also can get his arms out of the top. If the velcro strip could be larger, going more toward the back and side of the product, this would not happen. Maybe my son is more narrow at the top than some children and this is not a problem for many, but I think this would make the product more useable, one size fits all. Also, he is long, and the small size was too cramped. I'm assuming the next size up would have been too wide for him and therefore making it impossible for his arms to stay inside - which is happening anyway. I like the product idea and the fabric and construction,(which is why I gave it 2 stars) but this product did not work for me. I have recently purchased The First Years swaddle blanket, but have issues with that one as well. I am currently searching for one to fit.

Customer Review: Great Sleep Aid
Summary: 3 Stars

I love the Kiddopotamus swaddles. I have bought several (8) for our twin girls. They really help them to go to sleep by keeping their flailing arms & legs wrapped up tight and warm. The slit in the back is perfect for keeping them wrapped up while transporting them in their carseats. The swaddles are soft, easy to use and clean up well.
The reason I gave this one in particular only 3 stars is because this one (100% cotton knit yellow small) and only this one (not the green dot or circle bear pattern) had the velcro patch in a different, less convenient place. I don't know why because the other patterns that I mentioned were all the same. But the yellow ones don't work as well. Also, Kiddopotamus doesn't seem to make swaddles in size medium. The girls are now too big for the small size but the large size it just a bit too large. We still use them, but they're not as effective. Medium would be best at this stage.
